Omg can't believe how upset we are. Our very healthy, beautiful cat, died without warning this week.
Literally dropped dead outside back door.
We are all devastated and traumatised by it.
We loved him dearly and he was a great companion.
Of all pets we have had he by far had the most expressive personality and was definitely part of the family. He will be greatly missed.
Ps if you not a cat or animal person please don't feel the need to say so or pass comments.
It's just shocked us all how much it has effected us.

We sympathise with you totally. Our 12 year old dog, died last month, she had a massive stroke and all we could do for her was to have her put out of her misery.
We have had her since she was six weeks old and agree fully with you that they are definitely part of your family.
So sad for your loss x |

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... |

Ahhhhhhhh cheers all. Thanks.
We have lost pet's before but this time was very different.
For me personally (him) as the cat helped me when I was suffering from depression he used to come and sit with me when I was down, like he knew I needed love and affection, and when I had bad days as soon as I was in room he always came to me for fussies and attention right up until Tuesday.
House seems very empty without him. |

For us the most difficult part has been how sudden it was.
Feline cardiomyapathy.
It was instant, no warning, very healthy five years old.
Walked past me to go in garden two mins later made a horrific noise outside back door and was dead on the spot tried to revive him but was already gone.
Daughter very traumatised as well. |

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss and I totally understand how you are feeling.
I lost my cat a year ago last week, I spent a week looking for her only to find out she had been run over and killed instantly just up the road from my house.
One of my neighbors had burried her at his parents farm not realizing she was mine as I have greyhounds, the overwhelming sense of loss I felt was worse as I had not been able to say goodbye.
I had had her for ten years and she slept on her side of the bed every night without fail.
I cried for a week and I still miss her daily, I love the cat I have now but I still call her by the wrong name at times which I feel a bit guilty about tbh xxx

It's hard to read these posts with blurry eyes.
I feel for you. I have loved and lost many pet friends over time.
Each time I promise myself no nore then another finds it's way into my home.
Sending big hugs to you. Xxx |

One of my housecats recently got out and got attacked by a dog. Unfortunately she died, I still blame myself for letting her get out and I'm angry cos she could have lived another ten years.
I miss her cos she was a mummys girl and wherever I was she was curled up next to me.
Her brother, however, is loving being an only cat! |

Aw so sorry, I have lost two cats suddenly like that, and two horses - which nearly killed me. It's such a gut wrenching shock.
Last time I lost a cat to a brain haemorrhage I went straight down the Blue Cross within a day or two and fell in love on sight with her spitting image, so that worked out great. She's just getting a bit old and poorly some 15 years later! |

I know exactly how you feel.
I lost one of my cats a few years ago and like yours he had a big personality and always wanted to know what was going on. Taking him to the vets for the final time was the hardest thing i've had to do.
Still miss the cheeky little sod every day as he made everyday better, funnier and happier. |

I lost my beautiful boy Eric 4 years ago to a congenital illness so knew that any day could be his last, but even when he lost his battle it was one of the saddest days of my life and still shed a tear when looking at pictures x |

I had to put my cat to sleep 6 years ago. Had her for 17 years from a kitten. It's devastating and had a break before getting the moobag we have now. Love her to bits though.

I've just moved into a new flat with my cat, I've noticed a stray(I think he's a stray),lovely black cat.I let my cat out while I went to the shop..to my horror they had a fight...now I'm too worried letting her out again by herself boo..and also worried about dogs!
I didnt have any company this weekend..so my cats kept me sane from the silence lol
sorry to hear about your cat OP..just think of the good times, especially when he/she was a small kitten..that thought makes me smile about mine. |

The death of a pet is like losing a friend, family member as they are surely both? Your grief is natural and understandable. Sure everyone here will understand how you feel x |

A dog we had(& adored, I could still cry for him every day even after 9 years)died & my nephew who was just 5 at the time said this to me 'don't be too sad, he's gone to dog heaven & if you look for the brightest star in the sky, that's where he is' Even as I type this I've got goosebumps...children are so lucky to see things so simply
My heart goes out to you, our pets are part of our family & we mourn them as such xx |

The number of people who are sitting welling up just thinking about lost pets (unless that's just me) should let you know it's totally ok and totally normal to be so upset, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. |

Really sorry to hear about your little friend. We've always had cats, and love them all, but some seem to have that little extra spark that wriggles them a bit further into our hearts.

I Only Wanted You...
They say memories are golden
well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.
