and for parents it means sorting out uniforms etc..

Best bit for me being a student was all the new stationary id get, pencils, berol handwriting pens, cheap 99p ink pens from Woolworth (blue ink), clean rubbers, a ruler that folded in half so it could fit inside the pencil case, set of tonal pencils,

ah its was bliss!

love new stuff

Means the roads being bunged up with more traffic and having to leave half an hour earlier every morning so school holidays are bliss. Downside is the city centre is busier but can't have it both ways

My granddaughter is really excited as she is going into year 3, that means she can take her own pens, pencils and pencil case. She is easily pleased lol

My youngest starts school this year, I have already bought all new uniform, just need new shoes and trainers which will cost about £100 I have to prepare early as it's both the girls birthdays the week before they go back to school too. August is a very hectic month for my family

likewise mine starts in September too. I kitted my lil one out in Asda for £60

4 skirts, loads of socks, vests, pants, tights, shoes, a lightweight coat and a school bag

School provided everything else (polo shirts, jumpers, fleece, school coat, book bag)

Are kids shoes that expensive? Forgive me I am a bachelor who has a cleaner and wouldn't know the price of milk!

No. kids shoes don't have to cost that much. I stopped buying clarks shoes for my kids when my son decided to play football in them at playtime and wrecked them within 2 weeks. He now gets cheap ones...never spend more than £20

The store i went too had soooo much choice, it was almost too much of a choice as lil one wanted about 6 pairs in the end..

naturally settled for the ones with pink butterflies on the soles

That's great, our school only provided first book bag. School cardigans are a strange burgundy colour and cost £12 each! And my eldest daughter has to have clarks shoes, her feet are quite wide and the cheaper shoes just don't fit her right. I am not complaining though, they cost £30-£36 but last her a whole year as her feet hardly grow

Feet growth is a nightmare at the moment.. gone from a 7 to a 9 almost over night

again fortunate round here the schools allow just the cheap dolly style shoe for the older children.

My 3year old is like that, feet always seem to grow but my almost 6year old is about to start her 3rd year at school and has only gone from a size 10 to 11.5 in that time. The shoes from last year still look good condition so could wear them again this year but will have to take her to get them checked for size really x
