why do you call it square sausage when its more rectangular?

I believe the correct terminology for it is lorne sausage, but Scots call it square sausage, it really isn't worth the effort of sourcing the correct terminology or shape in all honesty though.

Its not a fry up if there's no mushrooms, I fry them with cumin seeds too. They taste lush!

Was just curious as i'm a Scot and call it lorne sausage. yet too see a square slice of it.
