Watching the Fred West one...

Do you think he was born to kill?

Obviously he did!

But do you think he or any serial killer was born evil?

Good nurturing makes a person and vice versa. Always exceptions though, unfortunately.

His mother played sex games with him

I'm thinking that may have played a big part in his actions!

I don't think anyone is born evil, i do think some have natural evil tendency's and what happens in their life can trigger those tendency's, its not always about family life, some killers have had perfectly good childhoods, and visa versa some people can go through horrific childhoods but never have it in them to kill

For true psychopathic killers there's some evidence of a genetic element of psychopathy. But nurture must always play a role as well.

That's generally what most programs I've seen on psychopaths have said too, there are certain kinds of brain chemistry that are less capable of feeling empathy toward those around them than is 'standard'.

I'm reading a book about psychopaths in the workplace at the moment and spotting them around every corner. Wonder how many could be on here?

I still don't think that in itself would be enough to make a person a 'killer', rather, it removes the emotional barrier that would keep most people from crossing that line, there still needs to be some sort of stimulus that makes a person WANT to kill.

It depends greatly on their underlying condition. Chronic narcissism, sociopathy, schizophrenia or combinations of all of them. Also West was classed as below average intelligence and possibly had learning difficulties.

I truly believe Rose manipulated him into much of it.

Snakes in Suits: When Psychopaths go to Work

It's interesting, considers whether the business world attracts individuals with psychopathic traits like risk taking, impulsiveness and lack of empathy. I work in finance and I've got a few suspects in my office already

A little, with added resentment because we don't actually get paid very much.

A true psychopath has a brain which is wired differently....they have a predisposition towards evil which can be triggered as seems to have been the case here...

"Nah your the master of your own actions"

In a lot of cases you're not always entirely responsible for your actions. Especially if you suffer with numerous conditions that are undiagnosed.

Well the place I work in was in it's infancy, and a little too new wave for my tastes, but when the new manager came in in '09, I think it really came into its own, commercially and artistically. The whole environment took on a clear, crisp paradigm, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the product a big boost. It's been compared to Stargym, but really I think we have a far more refined, individual sense of purpose to our establishment.

Curiously people use the term 'evil'.

True psychopaths are more akin - literally - to the Terminator in that they do not feel empathy and so although they may not kill for pleasure other people are classified as objects.

Try reading the book 'without conscience' by dr hare if anyone has an interest in this subject.

Very insightful and will truly open your eyes and make you think.
