Cold calls, do you?
Jump to: Newest in thread
If it's the pc scam when they pretend to be from bt or windows we try to string them along for as long as possible - Steve managed 32 minutes recently - we're TPS so shouldn't get cold calls from legitimate companies so i politely let them know - they're only doing their job after all. Z |

I ask them for their name, full name, and number and i'll call them back.
Not had one taker yet. Some of the rude fuckers simply hang up which doesnt help their industry at all. |

I just hang up. I have worked in cold call sales when times were really desperate work-wise and it's soul-destroying enough without some of the rude responses you get.
(Yeah, I know, heart bleeds, blah blah, I just don't pass my experiences onto them).

Depends on my mood, good i will politely tell them i'm not interested. Bad mood means they get the attitude varying from im busy to asking for a full name and contact number and then telling them this is so i can pass this on to thr court as they are violating the 1986 telephone act (made up) which makes it illegal to cold call peolle. It works a treat |

As somebody who has worked doing this I can also say it's soul destroying when people are so rude. There's no need for the level of abuse you get. Some people think they can say what they like to sales agents. It's our job to try and sell, most of us do it well. But when you get idiots who think they are above you and say get a real job. Folk like me listen to abuse like that all day every day to get a wage and put clothes on our kids back. So as I'm not an agent anymore , I would like to say a massive fuck you to all the rude nasty folk!
Thank you |

Totally agree with you - we only take the piss out of the scam calls - people doing their jobs need to be treated with respect - it's a very hard job - Z |

"Ask them why they can't get a real job
That's a little rude. It is as real a job as someone selling you something in a shop.
"
Some people relish being rude and like to brag about it though the reality is more likely they say one think to try and look good as they see it but in reality don't do it. Its odd as I am unimpressed by it and would assume most people wouldn't think its clever as they wouldn't like people to be as disrespectful to them in their job. |

I agree with you. No one should be rude or abusive to anyone. I just hang up or say no thank you or don't any answer if I don't recognise the number, 0845, out of area, etc. If it's important or someone who is genuinely needing to get in contact, they'll leave a message or try again.
People who get are cold called feel it's an intrusion into their lives in which they never invited. I understand they're trying to do their job, but they should respect the person and accept the first no.
At least you only got abuse over the phone. Try working in retail and you get in person. |

If I have spree time I love to string along until they hang up....have managed over 20 mins before now. Means they are not annoying someone else for a while.
If no time I pretend to be someone else and say that I can't come to the phone because I have a lady friend bent over the table with my cock buried balls deep.....click...buzz!
Sometimes they ask to speak to my ex. I just say she can't speak at the moment (even better if they ask why) ..... Because she has my cock in her mouth.....click....buzz! |

Other companies will sell your number on if you have previously given it out. rac etc. this happened to my mum. She has a phone from BT that rings in her hallway only if it is cold callers, if it is people in her address book and the phone picks up on this it rings in her lounge. compared to the amount she used to get, only the odd one slips through once in a blue moon

Being an IT Professional, I love the isp/Microsoft scams. I can keep them talking for ages.... Most of the fuck-witts know nothing about networks or computers .. The last one Who said they were from our isp, I had them trying to guess which company they're supposed to be working for. There aren't many but he still had 5 guesses. |

all people have to do is say No Thanks or I'm not interested and end the call. Can never understand how people get some sort of kick by being rude to others who are only doing their job "
This. One "No" and hang up. I know they HAVE to do objection-handling and I remember getting so much shit from my manager when I respected the customer's wishes and gave up on the first no. I do understand why people would be angry or upset as it is an intrusion. Unfortunately the companies and managers are usually hard-sales and you're stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I hated sales and can honestly say I would sooner starve than go back. The stress wasn't worth it and I massively blame the role I did for my brief slide into depression.
The best thing people can do is hang up. |

I ask for their company details and then point out that as I am on the TPS they shouldn't be calling me. Then I ask to be removed from their list and tell them that if I get any more cold calls from them, I'll make a formal complaint.
That's if they're UK companies, of course. Otherwise I just hang up. |

I spent 45 minutes trying to get a company to remove my number from their system as the person they wanted didn't live there! They kept asking for the phone number I just repeatedly asked which number did they just dial? They got fed up in the end and miraculously did it without me having to give the number in the first place!

They might not have known the number. Some companies have dialling systems that call the numbers and then connect the call centre staff.
It's the reason for a lot of those dead calls. The system calls you, you answer but there are no staff free to pass it to so the system drops the call. |

Depends on my mood! I usually just hang up, or I might say sorry I don't speak English then hang up but if I'm in a funny mood I let them waffle til they want my bank details and tell them that I have no bank account.
No offence to the people who are "trying to do their job" but if I wanted to purchase your product then don't call me I will call you!!! |

Tell them they have the wrong number and give them a number for a medium. |

I had a call saying i had won free windows and doors, so i said "great, can you just drop them off as they would come in handy" they hung up.
Another time i told the lassie i lived in a cardboard box and thus didnt have any windows, she just laughed and said fair enough then we had a wee chat and said our goodbyes.
Most of the time i hang up though. |

Accident helpline got me on a really bad day last weekend. "Jack" got told to fuck off very loudly. Not proud of myself, the man was only doing his job,but I'd been driving for hours on very little sleep and was trying to nap |

You can usually tell when its such a call. I stay silent, if I answer, until they speak - in case its an important call. Definitely recommend TPS for your landline and mobile numbers and privacy services which cuts your call level to almost nothing. Never put your private info onto databases and forums, as the info gets harvested and role on. |
