We're being accused of bad shit because I (mr) am articulate in messages.
Self confessed grammar Nazi, but also brought up correctly and old fashioned.
Sorry not it my nature to approach a lady for or on behalf of my wife and I with a 'fancy a fu*k' message xxx
We can meet but don't need vulgarities to do so xxxxx |

Accused of what kind of thing?? It matters to me, I am very communicative and prefer a man who is the same, so it helps if he can express himself well!! I get very frustrated with people who will only ever type one line at a time, 'phonitis' drives me nuts.

"F u no wot I meen y b overly precise and demand erudite and recondite badinage?
Fancy a shag?"
Haha, badinage, what a wonderful word!!
Funnily enough we associate eloquence with the use of 'flowery' language, but checking the definition it just means being fluent or able to express clearly. That'll do me, I like clarity in me badinage!

Do you mean is it an issue in the sense of do you find it difficult to be articulate or in the sense that it's necessary for the people you communicate with to be articulate? I find that I like people to be clear in what they say ie no ambiguity and I do struggle to articulate my feelings sometimes and I know I come across differently to how I intend. |

"Very important for me. Txt speak is my pet hate. Major turn off."
I don't think text speak is an obstacle to articulating clearly if all parties use it. To me being articulate means being able to express yourself clearly and easily in a manner that those you are speaking to will understand. A 5 year old would find the way I communicate with my colleagues less than articulate and I find the way my kids communicate with their peers less than articulate too. I haven't looked up the definition of articulate though |

I find my intellect can best be expressed by the use of comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. The overbearing use of pretentious grandiose verbiage can be deeply annoying to those who completely fail to comprehend your utterances. |

Do intelligence and being articulate go hand in hand? I know some extremely clever people for whom clear communication is impossible. |

Good question. I think they usually are associated but there are exceptions.
Wit is an interesting one too. My bestest friend is badly educated, not particularly articulate or intelligent (even though he thinks about things deeply) But he can be so, so witty - and sharply so, very quick. Fascinating.

I think intelligence has many levels and very few people are genuinely unintelligent. I've had the pleasure or working with people along the whole spectrum and only come across a very few who display no spark of intelligence at any level.
How people use their intelligence is another matter entirely and those that wield it as a weapon tend to get a wide berth. |

Within this site, I believe it's 95 percent about the pictures and 5 percent about the words (and that's being generous to the words).
The problem you have OP is neither words nor pictures, but the excuses people want to find and the hoops they want to make you jump through. |

Yes, thinking about it it's too broad a word for what I meant. I define IQ as the ability to use logic, to solve novel problems. that's how it is defined in animal studies too it seems.
I'm fascinated by the fact that some people like my friend can appear to have an average IQ and yet be very sharp witted. I have a feeling they may be simply not using logic well for other reasons. My friend often assumes he cannot do something mentally taxing and I wonder if it is more nurture than nature in his case. Some people get used to using logic and succeeding, others are demotivated and stop trying it seems to me. |

I don't think grammar and articulate communication are the same. Their, there and they're sound exactly the same so poor grammar wouldn't necessarily mean someone was inarticulate. |

I find sentimental slush does make people think something is wonderful but if you are articulate and actually read what is written it doesn't say much.
It is possible to be speaking from the heart when you tell someone something very negative about them.
Eloquence and articulation are not the same thing either. |

Okay being articulate and being a grammar Nazi are indeed two separate things, irrespective of how I love the two lol?
This is the situation you see, and yes my question IS ambiguous....
Being articulate, I write sincere but to the point 'are you interested' messages..
So far none have been simply deleted or an instant block to.
My wife and I are searching for a niche and working away at it. So far, enjoying the FAB experience too.
Because I write well and not 'up for a f*ck' message, we've been accused of something and it's spreading like wildfire.
So much so that we've even been refused to pretty much attend a social club coming up lmao
Now as a result, people have retracted besides one or two who know different, and we're the 'hot potato' of the campfire that people want to eat but it's too hot to pick up.
Ignorance is bliss as they say.
I can't say exactly what we've been or I've been accused of as it could have detrimental affects here xx
Thank you for the replies and some made me laugh hard! |

How does anyone respond to an inarticulate message anyway? If I cannot understand I won't reply. You don't need a degree in English to be able to write a message capable of being understood.
It ain't rocket science - for most it is our first language; the Mother tongue. Why mangle it until it is indecipherable? |

I enjoy writing sexually explicit messages to certain people on here.I like invoking sensations that derive not only from written, descriptive actions but also using words that are onomatopoeic or even just simply suggestive.Words are a lot more erotic than most people realise.I find swear words are fine but a bit overused.I tend to judge people who use abbreviated words on their profiles (and don't get me started on those who use numericals m8!) There also seems to be a backlash by certain people against people with correct grammar. It's quite nice to share a thread with like-minded people

I enjoy conversation, in particular with those who can articulate themselves reasonably well, that doesn't mean individuals need to be highly educated as one doesn't necessitate the other |

I love reading and adore creative use of language so an articulate message or profile text will tend to grab my attention. It's not the only thing I look for however; content and context is everything. It's about what you say, not how you say it with the proviso that if you can say it well then it's a bonus as far as I'm concerned. |

It's a major attraction for me also, I love the use of word play to help stimulate the mind.
I think if you can connect on a mental level then the rest will fall into place which will make for an enjoyable meet for everyone concerned. |

The pedants are revolting!
Whilst I don't insist on correct spelling and grammar, I do find it frustrating when I am constantly asked to explain a comment because the other person didn't "get it". Spelling often goes awry when people are using a mobile or a pad to send messages. I am often guilty of typing in a hurry on my tiny and inefficient keyboard and pressing "send" as I don't have time to check it. |

Many ( including myself) can fully articulate themselves. In the written word and face to face. Just because spelling is far from a persons best point, it don't make us totaly thick as shit! Just another example of stereo typical observations of the ' perfect' ... |

As I understand it being articulate only applies to the spoken word. I haven't looked it up so I can't be sure. |

So many say they won't meet others if they txt speak, bad spelling etc etc blah blah... Meeting face to face ,in my opinion is the only way to see if the chemistry is there ( who care's about spelling then?) on the flip of the coin someone could come across as mr or mrs perfect in the written word, meet them and they not got an ounce of common sense or the personallity of a stuffed toy...
Each to their own on their selection criteria... For us its meeting face to face thats the deal breaker |

Which came first to the human tribe with communication - speaking or gesture? Much of our talk is made up of stuff other than the mere words, and some of the best communicators use gestures, to great effect.
The best communicators are able to converse at a level that's appropriate for their partners - some distinguished lexicologists are astounding in their grasp of language intricacies, but not sensitive enough to be able to really be understood, nor understand others that well.
I like good communicators and this usually includes expansive use of language, but I'll prefer someone who is richly empathetic and in tune with me to someone who's swallowed a dictionary.
I love the English language and speak other languages fairly poorly - so I'd be viewed as someone with deficits elsewhere. I certainly find it refreshing when I find that others can communicate really well, but everyone's welcome, as long as communication is respectful and supportive. |
