A passenger plane is being escorted into Manchester Airport by an RAF fighter jet after the pilot reported concerns about a possible device.
Hope it all turns out ok. |

"Military jets are not used for just anything, I admit I feel a tad sick in my tummy, I hope it all turns out ok. "
Indeed, they are primarily there to shoot the plane down over water. So the fact they made it to land is a good sign hopefully. |

Flew right over my house and those jets are bloody loud. Very low for a passenger plane also. Maybe incase it was shot down to minimise collateral damage but made it too the airport so phew |

Scary stuff but glad it is all ok
Is this the right time to say that the sight of the RAF jet protecting us is very horny
We stayed close to Conningsby last year and sat and watched them take off every few minutes on their practise runs, and even though it was deafening, it was horny then too |

It seems the crew were alerted to there being a device on board and a passenger had been escorted from the plane by the police.
Very swiftly dealt with, quite reassuring. |

I don't know why they can't just say suspected bomb. No one believes a suspect device is suspected of being a few bottles above the duty free limit.
Why scramble interceptors anyway? If it is a bomb, then someone wants to down the plane. Fighter planes specialise in downing planes, they don't do much else. They don't go equipped with a very long ladder and extra seats.
I'm glad it turned out to be a hoax. |

Its good practice for the pilots and sure as hell puts the wind up the arse who has caused the panic! (Not that I think the other passengers would gain much comfort from seeing an armed fighter jet on station beside their holiday transport!) |

Also having other aircraft up there and monitoring the aircraft in question can give valuable information if the worst does occur. They can also give the emergency services on the ground a few extra vital seconds. |

"Make the hoaxing twat pay for the bill to scramble the jet, make this public and hope it deters other. Community service wont put others off, £50k bill would."
I'd have walked him up the runway and shot him!....
Maybe I shouldn't campaign for political office... |

"When we are living with the very real threat of terrorism, both homegrown and overseas, I am glad we responded as we did. Resting on ones laurels can cost lives. "
Surely you understand we can't be proactive with regards to our security, it upsets the lefties and possibly makes polar bears cry! |

Need the jets there in case the aircraft gets hijacked and needs to be taken down before it gets to intended target/highly populated area. |
