Godwin's Law
This states that if left to rumble on long enough, any online debate will eventually end up with someone invoking Hitler or the Nazis. This can be in any argument, from civil rights in Alabama to whether Waitrose is really that superior to Morrison's. Relevance to the debate itself is definitely not a determining factor. The same can be seen on Fab. Usually it doesn't get as far as people accusing others of goose-stepping through clubs or reading Mein Kampf at meets, but there are certain things that will appear on most threads if they go on for a long time. Generally these are the threads with huge quotes that should come with chapter headings.
Your selection process, filters, the OP's profile getting the CSI treatment, previous posts being brought up and used as evidence against a position taken, whether the thread would have become a bun fight if it had been a person of a different gender posting, all of these will eventually appear if a thread goes on long enough. There are others, but I dealt with Personal Preference, Professional and the common denominator being yourself when I did that stand up comedy routine at Jaydees (I thoroughly enjoyed that, btw).
Your selection process – this demonstrates that it is irrefutably the OP's fault that they are meeting knob heads, nut jobs and busty trannies. Or all 3 combined on a good meet.
Filters – these get a mention whenever anyone comments about messages received. You can cut out messages from certain categories of people, but unfortunately there isn't an arsehole filter. However, if someone filling out their profile were to tick the 'I am an arsehole box,' then it would be proof it was working.
CSI of profiles – quite often there will be that tiny inconsistency that draws attention to the OP not being as blameless as they think. It could be something as innocuous as mentioning they are 63 in a thread about liars, when their profile says they are 37, or something as innocent as being down on those having affairs when their profile pic is a cropped photo from their wedding day.
On a really long and protracted thread people will use the green arrow and discover that in 2011 someone had once said something that can be taken in an unsympathetic manner, or that they have already posted 28 threads asking for people to watch them on cam..... or have a female profile and a suspiciously male way of posting asking for meets every other day and are still unverified 2 months on.
The gender of the OP can become an issue, as although we have white knights dashing off to rescue damsels in distress or damsels in states of undress, we don't have many ladies doing it for the guys, not even those with 6 packs or 11” cocks. This is a shame, but I feel such a revolutionary development may actually break the forum.
What else would fit into Godwin's Law of Fab?

Critiquing whether or not a poster could possibly be a 'good parent' or whether they are 'putting their children first/care enough about their children's interests' does seem to be a popular one of late. |

Any discussion of cock or fanny pics will inevitably lead to butcher's shop metaphors and (depending on the gender of the genitalia involved) a 50/50 mix of white knights or ladies praising the neatness/largeness/girth of other posters and people bemoaning their inclusion with the immortal 'each to their own' thrown around so as not to cause offence... |

Any thread in cyclists versus motorists eventually leads to discussions on road tax and correcting people on how it works and idiots on bikes not obeying the law and ass holes in cars trying to kill everyone.
I do rather like the married and cheating ones. ...They can go anywhere and cover a wide spectrum of references. ...usually with a user no longer on site thingy majig next to the ops post a few days later.
We should rename the forum to The Coliseum. |

Not yet adding to the law, but proposing a 3 strikes rule, whereby suitably insured posters can quote the invocation of Godwins law and all others desist from posting, on risk of losing any and all insurance cover. It might let some threads peter out more quickly,or prevent maiming or death. All users up for it would solemnly swear, whilst holding their hand on Tina's bosom, to uphold the pre-agreed action plan. Will think this through some more. |

"When spelling or grammar threads rear their ugly heads, this site seems to have a rather disproportionate number of dyslexic members. "
That's the one thread that starts out proving Godwins law because it invariably refers to Grammar Nazis - a term I utterly loathe for its misplaced terminology. |
