As a follow on from another thread - I can't understand why people allow themselves to be ripped off say by a garage.

Why don't people get a second opinion before committing to spend £hundreds??

I don't know these people so could t possibly answer of course.

From a personal perspective. I'll always try to find a way to fix a problem myself before I'll commit to paying someone to do it for me. Have saved myself a fortune over the years.

Maybe it's because I've had the ability to either do it myself or simply say 'no'

I'm just really curious now.

One of my cars had been damaged while parked up. Front grill dented . Asked main dealer for a quote just to replace the grill . Was told just under £400 supply n fit. So I spoke to a friend, who managed to find one on Ebay... Was delivered n friend fitted it all for £17.50! Result! Who said blondes are dumb!? Lol

To be sort of fair to the dealer they can only replace with new to avoid warranty issues / comeback.

Convenience. People often leave these things till the last minute and don't have time to shop around.
