General preference is without however some guys suit the rough 'cant be arsed to shave' look.. and some of the younger gents look stylish with the goatie look.

Generally not as they are abrasive - if I need exfoliation I will buy a product for it or visit a salon. Nothing worse than skin irritation or rash after someone with beard growth has been around you. Some guys look good with them, but most look great when smooth.
