No, not in the naughty way but in the completing the job way.
Watching the Commonwealth Games has reminded me of the importance of carrying on when you experience a set back.
The young women on the beam who fell off, stumbled or made a mistake in their routines just picked themselves up and carried on to the end of their routine. No flouncing off or rolling around the floor because it didn't go as they wanted.

my daughter used to be in an elite squad for trampolining - international level - shes trained alongside some elite gymnasts and the dedication is amazing - im talking under 10 yrs some of them - repetitive training - fail fail success fail - seen so many kids crying their eyes out as they re-try something new - but keep going - since this has really opened my eyes to the devotion to the sport they have x |

"Have you seen that picture of the gymnast where she is jumping in the air and her leotard has split revealing her fajiner?
I bet she didn't carry on."
No, I haven't seen that picture. Why wouldn't she carry on until the routine was complete? |

The thing I have taken from this is that for most giving up is the first option and we need to all just allow some failure and trying again. We learn from what went wrong. When you correct it the thrill is greater than always getting it first time.

Because she was suckered to the beam |

I suppose she could have re-attached the gusset with duct tape and carried on you're right. But I'd still be willing to bet she cut the routine short. I guess we will never know for sure. It was a nice picture regardless. |

In the 1500m mens wheelchair race the other day, one of the racers clipped the inside curb and his chair tipped over, throwing him out. He just got himself back in and finished the race. No drama - just got on with it.
And you are right, you often learn more from things that go wrong than things that go right! Even though it doesn't feel like it at the time. |

"I haven't been watching the games but this could apply to using fab I think too "
It applies to everything. Don't give up at the first stumble. Complete the task and then make a decision.

Pah! I've researched it further and it appears to be a faked pic of the gymnast Shawn Johnson. The original picture has gusset intact.
Screw the internet!!! One more dream crushed!!!

Now the athletes are competing in the most awful rain and taking it in their stride.
Jo Pavey, 40 years old, had a baby 10 months ago and still pushed herself to get a bronze in the 5k.
I need to get myself some of their motivation and dedication.
