I predicted 1-1 for Englands first game and got £55 back.

yet another very, very bitter jock indeed but they never ever change do they?.
you can always shut a jock up when they start to spout about footballl by bringing up the mention of "ali's army" this quitens them down somewhat as they went to the world cup that year with the best scotland team ever assembled and were self proclaimed favourites to win the world cup!,
but they failed yet again to struggle out of the group into the knockout stages!.
during the last world cup at my place of work the jocks (who were taking no part yet again in the future of the world cup!) would turn up on englands match days wearing footy (or tee-shirts)shirts of englands opponents that day!, how very childish!.
england to win 3-0 tonight!.
and the jocks to continue to cry into their cans of mcewans and to continue to belittle englands chances!,yawn, yawn!. |

It appears that the World Cup thread has been hijacked by Scots determined to have some involvement in this world Cup.
~
Today's matches: (rankings in brackets)
Group C:
12.30 BST Germany (6th) -v- Serbia (15th)
~
Group B:
15.00 BST Slovenia (25th) -v- USA (14th)
19.30 BST England (8th) -v- Algeria (30th)
~
Serbia are no mugs and were unfortunate to go down 1-0 to Ghana in their opening match. Germany were made to look good by a very poor Australian side, so I predict a much tighter match today with a possible upset from Serbia. 1-1, or a Serbian 2-1 win.
~
The USA should beat Slovenia comfortably and I can't see Slovenia following up their first ever World Cup win with a consecutive one against a much better side. 2-0 to the Americans.
~
Algeria were almost invisible in their opening encounter with the USA and, once they were reduced to 10-men, all they could do was try not to concede anymore than the one goal they eventually lost to. Should they give England the same advantage then a 4 or a 5-0 thrashing is on the cards. It's vital that we don't concede as I believe it could well come down to goal difference to determine this Group's winner. 3-0 to England. |

Germany 0-1 Serbia!!!
Klose (Germany) sent off!! That's him out until the last 16.
The spanish ref is nobbling the team he thinks pose a threat to Spain!
(someone should have told him that Spain lost their opening match and will be lucky to get out of their group lol) |

As for England well 2 0 and 1 for crouch. |

So many people post on the football so you don't stand out being anti Spain. Just hoping the Germans get a bloody nose now but they will qualify as well unless there is a major upset.

What a game! Germany miss a penalty to pull it back to 1-1. With so many players booked this game is going to be minus several of the 22 players that started it. |

2-2 was a perfect result for us. Neither side gaining a real advantage in the Group and we need to win by two clear goals tonight to go top. A draw against Slovenia in our last group game will see us through to the next round. Ideally, a hatful of goals tonight will send a clear message that we're as good as the best in the competition. I'm off to the pub to watch the game, cyas later. |

One thing about this England team is that they are average at best.
Its only the foreign players around them week in week out that makes them look good in the EPL.

am afraid it is the amount of foreign imports in our football league that restricts the younger players coming through in the footbal league, and that includes the welsh, irish and scots players as well.
it's alright having class players like ballack & drogba in the league but we are getting such a lot of average players littering the league and thus preventing a repeat of 1958 when the welsh actually qualified, scots too!,to play along with northern ireland and england in the world cup finals. |

Where was Rooney.......in Boogies back pocket......posted missing on the park.
How can a player who earns close to £100k pw walk off the park after that display and have the cheek to have a go at the fans!
How will the English fans react to that at their next game. They can't boo him as the fans will be doing everything to back the team who need them as their 12th man.
BTW who was MOTM??

So many people post on the football so you don't stand out being anti Spain. Just hoping the Germans get a bloody nose now but they will qualify as well unless there is a major upset.

"how can a team, have so much talent, and be so shit.has capello morphed into ally mcleod."
We're on the march with Capello's army.....
Ally McLeod, he was so confident Scotland were going to win the 78' World Cup yet we failed miserably
Good ole Ally, he never was the same after that.
I bet he's having a laugh about it up the big city in the sky.

"I did warn everyone of Bougherra.
Do england pay him £100k a week?, I thought theor clubs paid their wages?
Yes the clubs pay their wages.
They also get an international match fee and bonuses plus a huge whack through sponsorship fee's.
So a bit of money envy then Grecian? "

England were not that bad, Gareth Barry and Lennon did well. the only thing wrong with England is that they are just not good enough. When they are in possession, no-one is making space off the ball and when you dont create space you give the ball away, which England done.
Rooney was awful, he didnt have giggs feeding him, Gerard was out of position and didnt have Marchenaro behind him, Lampard was pitiful as Essien or Drogba were there....need i go on?
truth is, and from a "jealous jock" is that England are average at best. Yes the EPL is one of the best leagues in the world but that is due to the foreign players. Take a look at the Argies for example, they create space off the ball, they mix up thier styles, short passes, long balls, wing play and bullish tenacity. This is down to the fact that all the players play all over the world, England have one approach which is typical English Premier League play, which is a disadvantage.
i can honestly say that they would not be regulars if theu get the groups that the other home nations get!
really sorry for the long post but im pretty pissed off at the shitty jibes at the Scots and Welsh previous to the 90 mins of laughing stock football!! |

you got to remember though that in 1966 england did not win a group game did they?,they gradually improved game by game and circumstances brought in certain players which proved pivotal to englands sucess ie jimmy greaves drinking habit opened door for geoff hurst.
dont feel england have a chance of actually winning but last 8 in the quarter finals is about our lot, argentina look very good but i dont want them to win because of the cheating little junkie dwarf maradonna. |

difference between players of 1966 and 2010 is that in 1966 players then were on a more realistic wage and in touch with the fans on a salary level earning probably the wage of a foreman or manager, these days players are better than on a lotto winners lifestyle and do not have have the same hunger as nobby stiles, alan ball or jack charlton!, just ordinary players who played their heart out for their country!. |

The difference is,the Italians have more passion for the game and their skills go some way to justifying a percentage of their wages.
I said a percentage because NO player is worth the exorbitant wage they receive!

I think its comical that when things go bad for England they cannot accept criticism and all they can come back with is 'at least we're in it'.
Its the sort of replies that you would expect from the school playground.
Talk about the football instead of gloating.
I have been saying for years how bad a footballing nation we now are so its makes no difference to me how the English like to slag our game.
Take the foreigners and money out of the English game and it will not be any better than the SPL.

One reason why the "lesser" teams like Scotland and Wales don't qualify ( apart from not being good enough ) is that they are always seeded in groups with the larger , better nations.
Add on the obvious cheating re France and Henry, and you see why the smaller nations will struggle.
Was also thinking, a recent joke is how many players seek out or invent Irish grandparents. You don't often hear of them doing the same for scots gp's do you?

Its hard to believe that in October 2007 Scotland were 13th in the FIFA rankings one place behind England who were 12th!
As soon as George Burley came in we went backwards. All that hard work put in by Walter Smith and Alex McLeish fell to nothing.
We had a hard working team then who were capable of winning the World Cup |

Scotland had a team that would have beaten England then, infact id bet we would beat them now. I also think Rep Ireland would also beat them and was it not that long ago that N.Ireland beat them too?
end of the fucking day Scotland has a population of what, 5-6 million, Wales much less and N.Ireland even smaller, England has something like 55 million.... really its a bit of a joke to boast that your "better" than countries of which you are ten times the size of. pitiful.

Slovenia blew it today, if they had won they would have topped their group with the lesser teams fighting it out for the runners up spot.
Now Slovenia have to get at least a point to reach the knock outs and i'm sure they will go out there are give England a game. Its should be some night.

The banter has been good and its the typical stuff from the terraces. Its great that you can speak your mind without fear of a banning
On here its just school playground 'am better than you comments' with not much debate about the actual World Cup.

It looks as though Beckenbauer got it spot on: Englad WERE playing kick and rush in the first half, only when they kept the ball on the ground in the second half did they even begin to resemble a football team. Capello got it totally wrong in these first two matches, his formation was wrong, his tactics were wrong and as for team selection, man, he couldn't have got it more wrong if he tried. Heskey? Past it. Gerrard as Captain? What a joke, my son has more leadership qualities than Gerrard and he's only 15 months old!
If England don't want to be on the plane home on Thursday morning Capello has GOT to drop Heskey in favour of Crouch, and I'd leave Lampard out and put Joe Cole in. James had a good performance for once but he needs to be told that trying to catch the ball is one of his weaknesses, punching it is even weaker.
Whatever happens, this team is coming home early, we'll be lucky to get out of group and as soon as we play the Argies, Germans or Brazil we're going to be humiliated. |

Group D:

This should be an easy win for Holland but if some of the results in this World Cup so far is anything to go by anything can happen. A Dutch win, 2-0.
~~
Denmark haven't impressed at all and were even beaten by South Africa in a warm-up game before the tournament. I can't see them beating Cameronn, but I can't see Cameroon winning either. 1-1.
~~
I've fancied Ghana to go through as the strongest of the African teams right from the start. Serbia beat Germany, and Ghana beat Serbia - that should say something and I think they'll beat the Aussies at a canter today. 2-0. If Ghana go on to beat Germany and Serbia beat Australia in the final matches we could see the Germans go home early! |

Once again England's over paid man-whore's fail to be bothered to show any interest in a game. Nobody would have boo'd if they'd lost but had clearly showed some endeavour and effort and generally played well. What the average fan can't stand is lack of exertion. |

Latest news form SA is
Heskey is to have a spinal operation to connect his brain to his legs.
Gerrard is to be tried for terrorism,as its the closest anyone has been to bringing down a plane in the last ten years.
Wayne Rooney has been told to close his eyes when passing the ball in an effort to improve his pass completion rate.
A fat big eared kid has been spotted in Manchester scoring and passing a ball, did we take the wrong one to South Africa.?
The Bird that seemed to know more about England's chance of scoring than the Manager did is to be given a coaching job.

I hate to say this but I think Terry should be reinstated as captain. It was what got us through qualification and I just don't think that Gerrard is up to the job. Replace Barry with Joe Cole and move to a 4-5-1 formation with Gerrard behind Rooney. I'd even consider dropping Lampard and put Carrick on, and put Dawson in defence ahead of Upson.
My team would be:
Goalkeeper: James
Defenders: Johnson, Dawson, Terry (C), A. Cole
Midfield: J. Cole, Carrick, Gerrard, Lennon, Wright-Phillips
Striker: Rooney |

Am I the only person who hasn't understood a word Emanuel Adebeyor has said on the BBC commentary? |

Teacher to class: "What does your dad do at weekends?" Little boy "He's a dancer in a gay bar and sometimes if the moneys right he lets punters bang his arse and cum in his gob. Teacher takes him outside: "Is that true? "No miss, its bollocks. He plays for England but I'm too embarrassed to say. Saw this on Facebook earlier and nearly choked on my coffee |

What a great game of football marred by simulation and the unfortunate sending off of one of the tournament's greatest players, but then the Brazilians are not innocent themselves, demonstrated by Rivaldo's corner-flag fake face injury in 2002.
Still a good game though, but Brazil can be beaten and if they go a goal down against a better team than Ivory Coast I think they'd struggle. |
