Nope, definitely not alone, I hate having to try and decipher what someone is saying in text speak, wouldn't mind but it doesn't take that much longer to spell the words out! |

I will own up and say i do use it, however i certainly wouldnt have a full on conversation with it.

I don't think lol and stuff like that are that bad. They're more like expressions to get your point across. Which i think is okay. But full sentences and paragraphs of text speak is a no go.

I only use 3 text speak/words/abbreviations in messages cos they're easier to type quickly and I'm lazy...

I absolutely detest lol, don't understand why people don't use question marks at the end of a question, hate when people don't use their/there/they're in the right context and also when people say would/could/should of instead of have...it's not of, it's HAVE! I am not a fan of text speak, admittedly I personally use two or three, namely - lol FFS when frustrated and ATM
Besides that it's a no-go and I don't even use ATM when messaging here or in emails et al.
Another thing that seriously grips me, is grammar and punctuation!
I'm a self confessed grammar Nazi and I just don't get why people can't use correct grammar, punctuation and context!!
Biggest ones for me have to be;
Then / than
Your / you're
Nite / night
ize in any form when it should be ise eg
Standardise / standardize (grrr US 'English')
The list goes on haha.
I like decent conversation too and am fortunate to have found very like-minded people here, so far.

I absolutely detest lol, don't understand why people don't use question marks at the end of a question, hate when people don't use their/there/they're in the right context and also when people say would/could/should of instead of have...it's not of, it's HAVE! Does that make me a hypocrite?!?! Or am I just fussy about grammar and punctuation?
Glad it isn't just me then. Sometimes wrong spelling annoys me. And it's obvious it's not a typo. Don't want to come across as arrogant but surely certain words you'd know how to spell and use in certain contexts.
