Been feeling pretty rough the last 3 weeks and now I know why after calling the emergency doctor out. So has anyone had it?
For me it was due to a pain med I have been taking for quite some time for my hip that has caused a bad reaction, plus having more blood tests to see if there is some other underlying cause.
Just want to feel back to normal..... |

I had it after having a bad tooth abcess and taking lots of different prescribed antibiotics and pain killers for it for many weeks, none of which worked, i ended up in hospital as an emergency. Was awful but the hospital and emergency care sorted me out fairly quickly. Hope you feel better soon x |

I have just been told to up my dose of an prescribed tablet that I have been taking for a long time to counteract the acid build up,which has made me throw up twice so doc suggests taking one in the morning and one in the evening to see if that helps.
Thanks sounds like what you went thru was awful x |

It wasn't nice but i have learnt now to be be more outspoken about what antibiotics my dentist prescribes me and thankfully it's not happened again ! The antibiotics were the main cause of the problems. I do take an fairly strong precribed antacid tablet twice a day now thou because i still have to take lots of tablets for a long term illness.
I do hope you feel better soon, i know how you are feeling and its's horrible xx |

I've had 6 years of side effects from medication for my arthritis, including developing allergies I didn't have before. I sometimes think suffering the pain is the better option |

Sorry to hear about your situation antibiotics are great when they work but they leave me with an unpleasant side effect, so have to take another tablet for that if on them at any time.
Will see what the blood tests show so fingers crossed and and thanks xx |

How did they know the allergies were as a result of the pain meds you are on? |

Arthritis treatments are frequently based on the NSAID family of drugs ( ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac sodium) all of which arewell known to irritate the lining of the stomach. What doctors should be doing is prescribing things like Lansoprazole at the same time as any long term course of pain relief or certain antibiotics. |

"I take omeprozole to counteract the acid"
You possibly need a different dosage or maybe need to make dietary changes, it's usually highly effective. Incidentally it's not just down to acid, it's also an increase in H-Pylori bacteria, the same bacteria that causes ulcers. Maybe a trip back to your GP is in order. |

It was suggested to double the dose but doing that the last two mornings has made me sick, so have been told to try one in morning and one in evening and if that is not working, I shall suggest your option. They want to see what the blood tests show before making any decision. |

Blood tests are often inconclusive in these cases you may be looking at an endoscopy with a possible biopsy to get a conclusive diagnosis. |
