Mini Van in about 1979 - TVY 687H has it's Reg No. - great little car, cost me 100 quid

Started to run and restore VW Beetles and Camper Vans a while after that, so there was always something from that era at my parents house for a number of years.

Happy days they were - epsecially because my Dad was still alive and could always be found alongside me, showing me how to dismantle and rebuild a Beetle Engine

2 speed wipers , next you'll be telling me that it had a heater and radio fitted

And for all you yung uns who may chuckle - heaters and radios were 'extras' in the good old days

Mine was a 1962 mini that i customised with a new flash paint job lowered roof and tinted glass. 1300 engine from a morris and uprated brakes. shame i never got to drive it as some scroats knicked it and crashed it into a wall at the bottom of the hill i lived on cos the brakes had not been connected up.

Was really mad the smashed it to bits but rather pleased to see all the blood they had left behind when they hit the wall.

Hillman Avenger here too, 100,000 on the clock. Always reliable.

Sold it a year later for £50 less than i paid, so all in all a cheap car.

Up North :-)

The first car was a VW Beetle in bright orange 1973 model The only car i ever doubled my money on buying for £400 and selling for 800. It was a temperamental fooker spiting chrome tail pipes out the back like bullets. It was a cooker in the summer, freelancing in the winter too.

Bike wise i still have it more than 20 yrs later and that was a Kawasaki Z1000 bought the bugger before i could ride and still have only put 26k on in all that time.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

My first evervehicle was an NSU Quickly moped bought for very little money. My first car was a hand-me-down Austin A35 van which I shoe-horned a Riley 1.5 engine into. When that engine blew up, I replaced it with one from an MGB Sadly, a week later, some twat pulled out into my path and wrote it off
