"years ago my cat got a grass seed stuck up her nose they are horrible things"
What happened ? My dog has been sneezing uncontrollably all day , I was wondering if it could have been a grass seed or something |

We had to put one on our little puddin (she's a Yorky) after a rash on her back. If I'm honest it made no difference to her at all. She still barked at everyone who came within 3 miles of the house, peed on the floor or on the guest entering our house and ran after every bird that had the cheek to sit on our fence. |

"Can,t see the need for a cone just because of a grass seed, unless the vet had to cut it out and stitch it up again. If the vet did,nt i,d take it off and let my dog be happy again"
Has to be on as it needs to heal over and it's not because she is gnawing at it she has a big hole in her paw |

Get a pair of old socks put them both on the paw then rap tape round it from about half way up fairly tight so your dog can,t just pull it off. Change socks every 2 days should be ok to leave uncovered after 6 days |

Get some cohesive bandage from the chemist (superdrug) and wrap that round for a day or so. This will stop the dog from licking it. Then no need for the cone If an open wound where seed was removed then keep an eye on it for infection. |

i thought dogs licked wounds as something in their saliva works as a natural antiseptic ...could be very wrong though as was recently bitten off a dog and looking at having my finger amputated as a consequence so maybe it aint that medicinal after all ! |

"My German Sheperd does the same 2 piriton tablets a day and hose down with cold water and towel dry when it hot. try to keep your dog away from flowers and long grass." the only way I could do that is if we didn't go out at all,i live semi rural and all the walks involve grass and flowers

"She won't move . She is like a statue !!!
"
Cones to a dog are like Christmas jumpers to a teenager, they send them into shock and the lack of motion is an attempt not to be seen |

Try vitamin E capsules for the coat and skin, they often like them so they don't have to be forced down.
And sardines or pilchards in tomato sauce are good for the coat and skin too. |

"It's when they try to get through door ways with the things on they always go bang on the frame
If you think that's bad you should try watching a cat in the lampshade who thinks it can get through a cat flap!!!
I was laughing so hard it took me ages to be able to open the door for him "
My dog uses the cat flap so she can only go out if doors open lol |

animals whiskers are always the width of the widest point of their body ...that is why they go into melt down with these silly cones because everything they trust in animal instict no longer works ..it might just be a cone to us...to them it aint |

"nature is brilliant ...a cat for example only has to stick his head out of the door and if his whiskers make it he wilk ...why dont we have these natural defenses now ?"
Sometimes I do!
Til I have a shave.
