"I can't understand how we can can go from being arguably the best test side in the world as little as two years ago into this current shower of shite."
Strauss. Trott. Prior. KP + a few others.
We miss these guys. Cook was in form smashing runs all over Strayer, then when they got him out on 198 Trott walked in and cracked a ton off. Makes it so much easier for the bowlers.
I agree with the above, take the armband off Cook in the most respectful way you can, thank him for what he has done. Make sure you already have a good enough replacement to be skipper and tell Cook, just bat like you used to.
Prior needs to go aswell (as mentioned), Butler is the only candidate I can think of.
Im going to be biased, he's not one for the future and is Welsh so wont be picked but just for the rest of this series, have a look at Cosker, time isnt on his side but his stats are. |

Struass was on his arse when he stepped down, kp is too disruptive and only scores 1 big innings every 20 innings or so, prior has pulled out of squad saying he's injured, cook is under so much pressure is a shadow of his former self, we have no spinner, and our 2 main strike bowlers in Anderson and broad are both getting too old and not the force they were, trott will never be picked again because of his mental illness,
Bell is out of nick stokes isn't a good enough bowler Jordan is awful both act and ball, I think that sums it up |

To sum up:
RIP English Cricket..... |

"It was carnage, awful batting against what is a rather average bowling attack."
Awful decision making and poor choices in handling the short ball. Terrible from Moeen Ali and that started the collapse.
Glad that Prior's been man enough to step away and give Buttler a chance.
Stokes? No way, Chris Jordan all the way.
Cook? Class is permanent, form
Is temporary, he keeps showing glimpses and then loses it. England's leading century maker will score runs again and he still has 6+years left.
Too many are quick to criticise and can't see the big picture. Vaughan and Willis are pencil warriors and talk first class shite. |

Because once the Olympics were over the Government discarded their Sport for all policy and took funding away from all sport. No help for young hopefuls any more |

I must admit, I don't watch a lot of county cricket so will refrain from suggesting we make wholesale changes to the side. If these are the best players on offer from within the system then it looks like we'll suffer more before we improve.
We've always struggled to find 2 exceptionality opening batsmen. And our 4 man pace attack is rather limp when you take James and Stuart from the front line to rest them. Am not convinced any player in the current line up merits any particular praise. |

I disagree about the opening batsmen comment, strauss and Vaughan were great and then struass and trescothick were brilliant, going back Stewart add butcher Stewart and Atherton, all great pairings,
I would say it's our bowling that's letting us down the most, there not getting the wickets and keeping the runs down so batsmen are always under pressure to score big and quick |

Stuart Broad is too old? He's 28!
They have had their chances. It only needed a few things to go their way and the situation would be entirely different. They need a new skipper and a spinner and then a bit of time for the new players to settle in, that's all. |

The bowling has let us down in a big way. I think this stems from 2 sources, the first is the coaching staff. In the last few years we have had well though out and carried out plans of attack. That amount of homework doesn't seem to have been undertaken. Secondly I think Cook's mind as captain is utterly shot, mainly because of his own woeful lack of form. In the field he has seemed utterly devoid of ideas...
I am not sure where they go from here.. |

" Terrible from Moeen Ali and that started the collapse.
Not sure what he could have done with that delivery, it was a brute."
He turned his back on it.
It didnt get UP as he expected as it was a short ball, but ended up waist high.
Im off to see Eng v Ind in Cardiff in August, they better sort themselves out, Im going to get smashed wether they win or not |

Brute of a delivery my arse. He ducked his head into it and tried to cover his face with bat and hands and he had plenty if time to react. NOT the way to react to the short ball.
He's been found out already this summer, he can't handle the short ball.
It was a stupid and senseless way to lose his wicket. |

Nah, I disagree. The fast short ball that doesn't get up as high as expected is a bastard. "
It's a simple ball to deal with because whatever you do you get your hands/ bat out of the way and don't put them in front of your face. |

It's a good series win but let's not get too carried away. India were pretty abject in their application with bat and ball. They contributed largely to the scoreline.
Fair play to England though. The selectors kept the faith and they've performed. |
