For the guys.....Which football position did you play or played in?

I played the tough tackling centre half. I had no pace whatsoever but when it came to defending i was a brick wall. I made the goalkeepers job easy.

Played school football, BB, under 11 till 17 and a few games helping out an amateur team. Still play 5's now a again.

I never did reach the heights of my father who played professional.

Manchester

am left footed but can also use my right with a fair bit of decency, as such from my early teens thru to my 20s and 30s playing saturday and sunday league i have regularly played in ever position going on the pitch in a 4-4-2 set up, my most common position was left midfield, my least common is right back, my fav now days (as am getting to old) is defensive mid, but most managers dont like having this position unless you have a cleaver/good attacking centre mid available

Had 2 years at Everton back in the days of the YTS (remember them?!) .. didnt make the grade and packed up playing almost immediately!

I used to be a very, very pacy winger and occasional striker. Two footed too ^^

Was offered a trial at Everton but declined because even as a kid I was a realist and knew it wasn't a realistic career choice.

Looking at me now you wouldn't believe I was a former promising athlete on the track and on the pitch xD

was right footed but played on the left wing scoring over 40 goals a season when i "peaked" at under 10's and 11's....ha ha......played for the boys club of the glasgow rangers and in May 1982 got to play on the main stage at ibrox stadium before Sandy Jardine's testimonial. Was all downhill from there right enough and the odd game of 5's is my footie career now

" my ex only married me cos i was good in goal ."

Is "Goal" a euphemism for "bed" there?

Or did you handle his balls on the touchline

it all stemmed from hs little sister telling his mum when we got back from the park playing football that "****(his name)'s new girlfriend is really good in goal !!" it just became our private joke for 35 years till he got fed up with me and walked out !!!

Goalkeeper,

First full kit I had was the England keepers kit from the '86 world cup.

Although i'm 30 now I still think I have enough years left in me to make the 2018 world cup, I'll be younger than David James is now! Just need to hit the gym and get rid of the neville southall build!

cheeky sod....

I'll have you know I had trials ya know.... okay so it was for Leyton Orient, but I was chuffed as nuts!!!

I suppose my best position was Centre back.... the one i enjoyed playing the most was either holding midfielder or behind the front two.....

I took one of the best free kicks in east london back in the day..... Beckham-esque you know!!!!

Centre half, centre back. A sweeper before it became a popular term, due to pace.

Then it was onto Rugger old boy.

Didn't play 'team' school football really, it was rugby season, then in football season I would do rugby club. Only ever played football 5 a side, so that pretty much means every position! Although I have a vague memory of being on the wing when I was really young.

I am still playing but as a holding midfield player these days. In my 20's it was more of an attacking role.

We could have a fab team at this rate

Would still prefer to form a rugby team!

We should do a fabswingers thing like we had to do at school every year. Touch rugby, girls vs boys, except the boys had to wear the girls skirts, and vice versa, and the boys were only allowed to run at walking pace!

Played right back/Wing back and covered occasionally at centre half if injuries forced it!

Played at quite a few levels and was lucky enough to be paid for it for a while! Injuries and age soon caught up though ..........how i miss travelling all over the northwest for matches!!

Two flaws in your plan.

1. just where on fabswingers are we gonna get a "hooker", jeez they give it away man ( reputedly), and

2. A proper Rugby team only has 13 players

Sorry, RL stopped being Rugby when they took away the flankers!

Fine game, but it's not rugby

(failed attempt at being scrum-half & fullback here...)

Take two eggs and whisk until liquidised.

Add the flour and stir with a spoon forming a creamy batter

Spread it all over an O.P. who opens a Guys only thread.

Finally dip him in sizzling fat until crispy ...

My fluffy little heads done cookin' now for the cleanin' ....
