What books/stories do you think would translate well into film?
I think the film world should venture into ancient history and create films with Medusa and the Gorgon sisters, The Minotaur, Hercules and all his ventures

The three books of the "rats trilogy" by James Herbert. Given the special effects available tday just imagine a swarm of ravenous,carnivorous mutant rats the size of dogs attacking humans.  |

New film "Hercules" comes out in late July. Stars Dwayne Johnson - looks quite good from the trailers. |

Honestly- one about my dads mate. He's a proper geezer!
He grew up in a run down terrace in the industrial part of The Midlands- was in the SAS, he's guarded The Queen, been a smuggler with his own plane (numerous times- fags, booze, diamonds), got shot (allegedly by the Mafia, possibly self inflicted to set someone up), he may have had a fire related work incident that wasn't that accidental- same with the stolen vehicles, i won't mention what he asked my dad to look after for legal reasons, lets just say it fitted in a small bag.- he spent 6 months touring India on an old motorbike and ran a booze cruise warehouse in Europe for almost 10 years, he's related to the head of a large religion, he's met and been friends with a ridiculous amount of celebs and used to phone Bob Monkhouse up for a chat and to see if he fancied a pint, ended up having a phone chat with Arnie, Stallone and Bruce Willis on the same day (won't go in to details on that one) and lots more weird and wonderful adventures.
All of the above have actually happened- my dads known him for 60+ years and witnessed a fair few of them or can confirm they're actually true.He's just an ordinary bloke who's had the most extraordinary life! |

A remake of 'The Dambusters' would be good and a long and proper D-Day film.
I think a film of 'Mortal Engines' would be good, so good in fact, mr saddo here has written some few pages of screenplay and sketched set designs. |

There's an AC film on YouTube I think.
Sure I read about an actual Hollywood film being made.
Skyrim, no. Impossible to capture the vastness of it. It'd have to be like LOTR.
Watch Dogs, hmmm. A film about a thief who listens in on your private calls and watches you through your webcam. Tad creepy. |

Slightly obscure, but I dream of directing a version of a book called "Foucault's Pendulum" even down to the soundtrack and the final heartbreaking tracking shot...

there was a dambusters remake planned (stephen fry was involved in the writing) by one of the hollywood studios but i think its been shelved. |

There was talk of the video game Halo being made into a film a few years ago, would love to see that, but the film version seems to have gone quiet, don't know what happened to it?

One I'd like to see is a short story by Robert Westall called Blackham's Wimpey. It's about a haunted Wellington bomber that is on ops over Germany. It's a really good short story and would make a wonderful ghost story for late on Christmas day.  |

There WERE plans for a Halo film directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson. Unfortunately the studios and Microsoft couldn't agree on how the profits should be split, so it ended up falling through. So as a result, we ended up getting District 9 instead.
I'd love to see a movie that delved into Japanese fantasy tropes. We were promised one with the trailers for 47 Ronin, but for us, it fell somewhat short. If someone were to do something similar to(or even based on) Ninja Scroll, and do it properly, I reckon that'd be something special |
