What would you say was the nearest nationally recognised landmark too where you live…?
Mine would probably be the Angel of the North or Durham Cathedral, although Penshaw Monument would be closer it’s not really a place of national interest.

As iconic as it is..... Would you say it's image was easily identifiable by people from all over the country ?

"Probably the smallest house In Britain. Its in my town of birth and not too far away now. "
Oh I've been there, a long time ago.
I've been racking my brains. Would Cheltenham Racecourse count as a landmark ? That's the closest I can think of . |

"You do all know that Soxy Soze is sticking pins in a map and planning sexual manouvres as we type ?"
OMG Gwanny you promised not to mention my cunning plan....
But in my defence... some of these locations are pretty obscure compared to the Angel of the North and Buckingham Palace.... |

I'd say the National Memorial Arboretum is the nearest one for me, we also have a few other things in this area, but that's probably the most significant |

I think the test is if you showed someone a picture of the landmark would they know what it was without any clues. Buckingham Palace possibly, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Stonehenge, Angel of the North etc. |

Devon's not really known for landmarks. Beautiful countryside and coastline, but a distinct lack of landmarks. Closest, I guess, would be Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol or Stonehenge! |

Hey Soxy, do you go around the Angel of the North shouting cock, or just the Monument?
There's nothing in Oldham that resembles a place everyone knows, unless you count Saddleworth Moors, but that's more infamy than anything else. |

The Morrison's building is very wrong, it looks like a giant lego block.
The Orange Elephant is to advertise an ice cream parlour, which is meant to be really really nice |

"The Dartford Tunnel?!
Failing that Colchester Zoo maybe. Or anything in London.
What about your ridiculously long pier?
"
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Obviously so do a lot of other people, because it's gradually getting shorter because boats keep crashing into it!! |

That's a stunning place.
I think the view from Yat Rock at Symonds Yat of the River Wye is iconic. Maybe not a national landmark but a famous view nearish to me.
Oh and the Malvern Hills. Always look like a sleeping dragon when coming South on the M5. |

We have lots of beautiful and historic landmarks by us, both natural and man-made. We keep quiet about them though - don't want too many grockles moving here |

Gosport |
The Mary Rose, HMS Victory and HMS Warrior all based in the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard across the harbour from me. Although not really nationally known Holland 1 and HMS Alliance at the Submarine Museum. Bit of naval dominance in these parts. |

Derby Arboretum is a public arboretum and park in the city of Derby. Located in the Rose Hill area, about a mile south of Derby city centre, it was the first publicly owned, landscaped, urban, recreational park in England. After many years of neglect, the Arboretum has recently been extensively refurbished with the aid of a National Lottery grant of almost £5 million. It is listed on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.

Emley Moor Mast.

Sandy Heath Mast. What a magical masterpiece it is as it glows in all its glory on a foggy night! |

Malvern hills hits the spot. I walk 50yds and cross one road and I am at the bottom of the footpath straight to the top of the hills. Having walked past the spring in the town centre (Malvern Water) |
