Why does swinging seem much more prevalent in England than in the US? England is smaller than Florida but seems to have many more in the lifestyle. The English reputation of "stuffy" seems completely wrong.

I wonder if the influence of religion has something to do with it. The US is more actively influenced by fairly extreme nut jobs than the Uk, imo. Is the op referring to experience from all over that states or just his state? Pockets of activity seem to be high in certain areas there, but I dont know it well enough.

I thought this was going to be some sort of World Cup play off of losers thing. Phew! The US would thrash the England team.

As for swinging, I didn't know about it before I started. I think when you start looking properly you find all sorts of things right on your doorstep.
