As much as I loved the Harry Potter films it's gotta be Lord of the Rings

Titz Towers, North Notts

I think they are both good, but hard to compare.

I'm glad Peter Jackson didn't do the Harry Potter films, there would have been 3 parts to each of the shorter ones if the Hobbit is anything to go by.

Harry Potter I think , Lord of the Rings I preferred the book. Although Orlando Bloom made it worth watching!

Harry Potter every time!

Tried multiple times to get into LOTR and it just couldn't keep my interest. - Would end up falling asleep or going and doing the washing up and would forget I was watching it.

The first LOTR was a masterpiece...the descent from an idyllic life into such a realm of darkness that even friends can no longer trust each other and have to disband...fantastic.

The rest were basically just HP i.e. a bunch of stupid fantastical characters fighting special effects budgets in order to try and get bums on seats. Shame because the actual end of LOTR, with Sam being the surprise hero (I never read the books)...that was really touching and moving...but it just sagged in the middle there...which is more than could be said for the Matrix which went from fucking amazing in the first to fucking shit in the second and stayed shit. Unlike Star Wars which started as kinda OK, went fucking awesome when Lucas took a break from directing, then went questionable when he returned...and fell off a fucking cliff when he resurrected it decades later.

JJ Abrams promises not to make the same mistakes Lucas did so I'm quite looking forward to episode VII
