Every summer we have the same problem with flies. We can't use anything chemical to keep them away as A is asthmatic, I keep fresh mint in the kitchen which helps but doesn't keep them away all together. Anyone got any ideas? |

"I hate them i live near a canal and get loads in the summer, all my animals go on dry food this time of the year, not putting meat down helps a bit "
Yes we live near water. We put the cats food in a cupboard if there's any left in the bowl and have those umrella type net food covers for cooling meat etc |

"Remote lazer cannons. With motion control tracking
I will see if I can get one on e-bay "
Get a tennis racket bug zapper from the land of pounds.
Fly tennis both works as an exterminator (and at ours tasty, crispy fried, cat treat supplier) but also a great way of keeping fit!

"Get planting with geraniums
Apparently they're very effective and one of the reasons you see them all round the windows in the Mediterranean "
Loads of geraniums in the garden, maybe I'll put some outside the back door and a couple in the kitchen. |

Those window stickers aren't as good as they used to be cos they had to reduce the fatal ingredient.
The electric zappers are good, a friend of mine who lives near a cattle farm has one and it really helps. But get one of the ones designed for food places.
The old fashioned ribbon or bead door curtains help and you could consider window screens - bettaware do some.
Plant lots of lavender near doorways and windows as it deters flies too
And you can't beat a traditional fly sweat for working out your frustrations! Pound shops often have them.
Oh, and every so often wash out your wheelie bin, food waste clinging to the sides could be attracting them. |

"Get some spiders they're really good at catching flies.
Then you'll need some frogs to eat the spiders
And a snake afterwards to eat all the frogs"
and an old lady? |

all good advice, we wash our wheelie bin regularly since a very upleasant incident one hot summer involving a plague of maggots marching towards our front door...I still wake up screaming now. Every thing is double wrapped before it goes in as well |
