Just a bit of harmless interaction.

Add to the thread that you're in, then if someone who's on your hot list appears you must message them that they're on it or you added them. It'll only really work for regular forumites.

Some use the hotlist for other reasons than thinking someone's hot!

Like a bookmarking system - those who's updates amuse them, those who have interesting pics, those who's pics are suspicious and have been alerted to admin (to see if they vanish !), those being kept on a 'watch list' to see how they progress on site for potential future contact - all sorts of reasons.

Or of course - just because you do actually think they're hot.
