The land of grey peas and bacon

So I'm watching a programme about revamping vintage clothing...What is you oldest piece of clothing and what memories does it bring back when you look at it??

I don't own any vintage clothing but I do love it...however I remember my mum wearing flares and a head scarf when I was younger and I really love that look even now..

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

New to me my oldest piece of clothing is 35 years old. It's a black top from Chelsea Girl bought with my own money - I was so proud.

I have a dress bought from a vintage shop about 10 years ago that is about 50 years old.

I've still got my cut off denim jacket that I embroidered with band logos during the 1970s. I used to wear it over a leather biker jacket with drainpipe jeans and cowboy boots It still has a feint whiff of patchouli oil. It reminds me of all the small venue rock concerts I went to at that time

There's a cool vintage shop in Leamington that imports old clothes from the states. I have some that look to be 1950's but I don't know how old they actually are.

I have a 1930s crepe de chine jacket, a 1950s suede fringed cowboy jacket and a circular black taffeta skirt that's possibly late 40s or early 50s. I also have a late 70s/early 80s studded black leather biker jacket and an 80s bright green power dressing Versace padded shoulder cropped jacket.

All of which I wore regularly at one time. Unfortunately I've put weight on since then and they don't fit anymore.

I have a beautiful beaded blue Dior maxi dress from the 70's of my mums. Even if i could fit my fat arse into it I'd be too scared to wear it!!

I do however use my granny's Chanel handbag!

I'd love to shop in charity/vintage shops and customise them but it's very rare you get plus size clothes

I've got some clothes that I've bought in charity shops that are probably 30 or 40 years old, one cashmere twin set I know for sure is. Other than that the suit I married in is nearly 27 years old and I have some silk saris that are probably about 70 years old or older but I never wear them.

I know it isn't quite what you were looking for. The oldest piece of clothing is my Time cycling shoes, they are 20 years old and are finally starting to fall apart.

The memories are of cycling incidents obviously, nearly catching my minute man on a 10 mile time trial and falling off on a corner due to wanting to catch him so badly.

Doing 52 mph downhill on the road to appley bridge, nice piece of road except for the blind bend at the top.

Completing the Liverpool to Scarborough 'fun' ride in under 11 hours.

"PWEI original 'Sample it, Loop it, Fuck it and Eat it' Pepsi logo t-shirt and baggy shorts, from August 7th 1990- the night they opened The Institute venue in Digbeth, Birmingham.....They were of course fooking awesome as usual

I was there, as I recall there were serious concerns that the floor would collapse! No longer have that short though, it's one of many my mother binned!

A Wonder Stuff tour t-shirt from 1988. I rarely wear it.

crystal was 3 when that tour happened...

Fairly sure i used to have the Eight Legged Groove Machine or Groovers on Manoeuvers shirt from the 89 tour (Neds & Jesus Jones support IIRC)....so many shirts, such shite memory! Wish i'd taken better care of them

Groovers on Manouvres was 88. 89 was the Disco King Tour in march (Jesus Jones supported) and HUP tour with ned's and I think Sandkings or Eat in Autumn and Hometown Hoedown in December.

I may also have an anorak from this era...

I had the 'idiot under construction' tour tshirt from seeing them at the Liverpool University, I still remember it had Idiot on the front and dates on the back. That fell apart I wore it so much.

I've still got a few Stuffies ones including from their official last ever gig at Phoenix.

Annoyingly I missed that one, 20+ years on that still grates a little... Seen them more times than I care to remember.

I lost most of my band tee shorts, I would love a Senseless Things 'Pop Kid' one but the ones that surface on Ebay are always tat.

Can I get threw your filters plz so didn't realise who you was at jds gutted "

I thought you meant Dudley JDs for a moment!

"I've got some pretty old band T-shirts knocking around; I think the oldest is a Curve one from about 1991. And I still have my first ever pair of Doc Martens from 1989.

I lost my 91 Curve fractal t-shirt on a night out at uni.... I am now consumed by the heartache of loss combined with overwhelminh lust for Toni Halliday... "

Any night that involves losing clothes can't be all bad surely?

Saw TH in a band at Brixton Windmill a few years ago - a very pleasant surprise!

No idea of the band, went to see some friends play and they were on the same line up

Love the Windmill, had some great nights there. Les 'Fruitbat' Carter used to organise all day gigs there, happy (and d*unken) times!

I've just remembered that I've got a pair of 1920s silver shoes. They're fabric but it's made with actual silver thread. And yes I have worn them.

I have lots of vintage clothing, I also have a fair amount of vintage costume jewellery and accessories.

I have bought a lot if it from vintage shops and fairs, but I do have some clothes of my nans and mum, I have a beautiful lace pink blouse of my mums from the 50s.

I have embellished clothing for years, since I was 15, so a good 25 years or so. I'm an ok seamstress and I accessorise most of my clothes to have them exactly as I want

I've got a few vintage bits of unknown age, but my own black fringed ' Lewis Leathers' bike jacket with its BSA badge that I bought at 15, I cannot part with it! I proudly wore it a year ago to a fancy dress with vintage Levi flares and a batik top, ha!!

I have the outfit I wore to my sister's wedding in Italy in 1996. I was going to throw it out but it's classic and I want to fit in it again.

Im short on old stuff, after many bouts of decluttering. Sometimes visit second hand stores to get stuff. Would love some Mary Quant 60s gear, inc mini skirts.
