Hey fellow fabbies! I'm constantly asked for id to verify my age when buying fags/booze and even bbq lighter fluid. Now this only happens at major supermarkets. Should I take this as a compliment or a piss take? Oh yeah I'm a 36 year old male...... |

Yeah I get this a lot too...
It's not that you look young, just the more racially ambiguous you are the harder it is to place your age...
Kinda similar with Chinese, our eye is just not used to judging their years. |

Take it as a compliment.
Altho I have to confess, I struggled to take it as a compliment when I was ID'd a few weeks ago for a lovely bottle of scotch for a friends birthday... She did look surprised when she totted up the fact I'm 37! lol |

Take it as a compliment and enjoy it while it lasts.
It's far more annoying when they start to ask if you'd like the OAP's discount. ( Senior citizen i believe in modern parlance). |

However they can lose their job if they don't ask someone who is later found to be under 18 and whilst you have to be over 18 to buy cigarettes, alcohol, plastic knives  etc, its what age you look that is important. I work in a pub, we have challenge 21 but some places work on 25 so in other words you have to look 21 (or 25) and if you don't, they will ask for ID |
