I've always found the best gyms are
More private owned ones or least a local business.
Far less cooperate and fancy bollocks. Just good old fashion iron.
Every gym has idiots though. Just out in your head phones and ignore the plebs. You'll soon settle in |

Gyms can be pretty pricey. There are a lot of things you can do around the house to tone up, but it's hard to get motivated whilst working out in your living room and watching Friday Night Dinner at the same time. |

Fill up two plates with 20kg of meat, do some curls then eat. It's a win win |

My gym costs me £16 a month, with no 12 month contract. It's not as nice as the local David Lloyd but for a 3rd of the price I'm not complaining. Even Fitness First closed down here and re-opened as a much cheaper 24 hour gym. |

my local council run gym has rubbish opening hours, closes at 5 on a Saturday and 3 on a Sunday, no good if you work weekends |

My local gym is £40 per month, unlimited use and access to classes. It works for me.
I also have some DVDs for at home when I can't get to the gym due to work or childcare, and I'm training to be a PT as well so kinda covered lol. |

I don't like the gym, I find it claustrophobic, I like putting my music on and be in the fresh air. Best way to clear my head. I am lucky to be able to run in the country-ish side and enjoy the cows, the rabbits and the swans

Yeah look for a The Gym or an Easy Gym, they used to be separate but are both the same company now. They are open 24hrs and only cost about 15-16 per month and you can cancel at any time.
Not as many gyms around the country but same type of deal can be found with Stelios' easy gyms.
Equipment's fine and they're usually clean. I don't understand how the expensive gyms can still operate with this competition. |

Search the internet for free trial vouchers, as joining the right one for you is important. Aim not to sign a lengthy contract until youre sure you will go as they will take you to court if you stop paying. I pay just less than 20, but there are cheaper, and some of those no staff ones. I like the lads attention when Im there and cant stand gyms where people dont talk. Exercise is a major part of life so is not a way for me to be having a period of extended silence. It is also worth having regular blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and other tests done as part of your health management. |
