Motivated to lose weight?

I'm just wondering how others keep motivated to eat healthily and exercise? Does anybody have any tips for an essentially lazy person who hates any form of exercise? I find I'm really good for the first week, can keep going for about a month, but find it a struggle and then the old habits slip back in and I stop any exercise and start eating the wrong things. What do others do to keep that initial enthusiasm going?

Find something energetic and enjoyable , don't see it as a chore , and eat food you like but don't eat late at night ,I lost two and a half stone easily with minimum effort

It's nothing but a strong mentality that's required and some good old fashioned self discipline.

When I feel demotivated, I turn to videos on YouTube and look at fitness motivation.

Music helps a lot also

Keep a weekly log of measurement and weight along with a pic. Don't over do the exercise or it will become boring, just start off with walking to the shops or a walk during lunch break at work, even that can help you start to loose weight and tone up. Don't be down beat if you dont lose any weight or inches to begin with, or if you haven't lost any at all because you could be gaining muscle that weighs more than fat, these things take time. I now only have 1 take away a month, normally payday. Just small changes to diet can help, smaller portions and drinking more water will make a big difference. You won't see it for a while but others who haven't seen you in weeks/months will. My friend who I haven't seen in about 2 months commented over the weekend that there isn't as much of me as there used to be.

Hope this helps. X

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

It takes more than a week for things to become a habit. Just keep going for a bit longer and it will become automatic.

(She says, trying to think of excuses to get out of going to the gym )

Find an activity you like doing. I chose aquarobics. Don't have bad foods in your house. Nothing processed. Find something low fat/carb to snack on. Put a photo of you looking your worse on the fridge

Also, I don't buy fattening food. If it isn't in my house I can't get tempted. It does mean anyone who comes round for a cuppa thinks I am stingy with biccies though

Things after a while become normal and the effort slowly turns to enjoyment. Give yourself 3 months and then you will start to notice a difference in how you look and that alone can be motivating

Thats a very good point. I dont buy crisps or chocolate etc now when I go shopping. If it's not there I can't eat it. Also you need breakfast, even if it's just toast or a piece of fruit it will kick start your body for the day

if it's something you enjoy you're more likely to stick at it. I'm a lazy b at heart too but i ride horses and have started roller skating again. great fun!

It's all about setting yourself achievable goals

With my running I started out slow, and entered for a 5km race. Then a few 10ks. With a long term goal of a half marathon in a year

I keep entering races to keep myself motivated. Without those I would probably stop
