notts

the stupid snake thread got me thinking,

when the wife read it she said that if she had a meet arranged and walked into the persons house and they had a snake/reptile/tarantula or similar in a tank in the room, she would do a runner.

what would you do?? and how would you feel if you had one as a pet and your meet refused to play??

It wouldn't freak me out but I'd see them in a different light if keeping animals that don't belong in our country. Think they would be happier in the own environment rather than a cage.

And don't go saying it's about conservation. Because it's really not.

Most breeds of cats and dogs aren't indigenous to this country!

i totally agree, snakes shouldn't be kept as pets but they are, mine are rescue snakes, they couldn't go back into the wild so somebody has to look after them, given the choice id sooner them be free

I had exactly this happen to me. Guy showed up and freaked when he realised there was a snake in the house. (In a vivarium not roaming freely). He couldn't get out the front door quick enough. Just seem a new airwaves chewing gum advert that depicts just this too!! Lol x

I don't keep exotic pets, but if went to a house where they had one would find it quite interesting to have a look.

I could possibly cope with a snake as long as it wasn't in the room we were playing in but couldn't be in the same building as a tarantula I freak out when there is a pic of one

The domestic cat came from egypt did'nt it? I find it funny people saying snakes don't belong in this country, try telling that to adders and grass snakes.

From your profile pic it certainly looks like you have a python trying to escape

Petrified of snakes, can't even bear to see pics of them. If I went to a meet and they had a snake I would have to leave

Would be ok as long as it stayed on the other side of the glass if it was out then I would be out of there if it was a snake.

V is the same.

has massively bad arachnophobia, so if we went to someones house and there was a spider of any kind in the room, whether exotic, or just sat on the ceiling, she wouldnt be there for dust.

reptiles, she used to have gecko's so isnt that bothered.

me, if its in a cage or a tank, i dont really mind what pets they have, as long as they have washed their hands

I have always had snakes and find them to be awesome pets from my personal perspective. Having always had them though, I am very aware of the often intense reaction that people sometimes have to them, and always try to be as respectful as possible to other peoples fears and sensitivities. Most things in life are not for everyone. Except judging it seems sometimes.
