Ladies do you ever get used to them, i dont mean the pain and the moods.
My mates wife was on at the weekend when we went to Ascot and he was saying it ruined her whole day.
Does it ruin your day/night out if you are on or do tyou just accept it. |

I've been having periods for nearly 40 years and I've never really got used to them - they've ruined many a day out and trashed holidays (for me - not everyone else). And my body just seems to 'know' when we've got a trip to Kestrels planned - hey presto - the day before the red flag is flying!
Most women (including myself) just get on with it but I really can't wait til I shrivel and can put the damned things behind me! |

I thought the pill usually helps reduce all that. The pain, bleeding and even stopping it.
Why don't you guys try that?
In my family it's all girls. I'm the only boy - bloody hell do they like their chicken burgers at that time of the month lol
Mind you. My periods aren't that bad lately. Think i've learnt to deal with it..

Surely they are useful, a godsend if you want to play badminton or go rollerblading down the sunny promenade. I've seen the adverts...you would be lost without them and never have any fun.... (Ducks and takes cover) |

Mine have never caused me any problems. No pain, never knew I was 'coming on', very light and over in about 2days. Now I'm on the pill it's exactly the same with the added bonus of knowing when I will be on my period |

I think it's a bit of both, to answer the op.
Yes, you have no choice but to accept it and get on with living life those days but it can ruin days. Mine are like cheeky's with the added bonus of large pain causing clots up to the size of clementines. They're no fun and i just might be glad when they stop. |

I don't get any pain, but I hate how they get in the way of a well planned weekend. They just call when they fancy so I can't even plan around them. I'm sure I should be about done with them now……just waiting for the moustache to kick in! |

Not had a period now for over 5 years!
Early menopause, when I did have periods they were no problem at all, no real pain and I knew when to expect them! So not really a bother!
Quite happy I don't have them now though |

They're just so much fun aren't they?
I didn't have any for 6 months & was hanging out the flags til one reared it's ugly head right in the middle of a meet..... Lovely people who were very understanding thankfully |

I've got the coil now, only been in since feb, and honestly... I wish it had stopped them. They are now just unpredictable and still just as heavy. I've actually asked for a hysterectomy, but because I'm under 40 and only have one child, they won't consider it.
I've had damn near 30 years of suffering now (Less being preg) as even the pill didn't completely help. |

Similar issues to Miss Cheeky here. Plus since I've started losing weight they arrive every 23 to 25 days (something to do with the breakdown of fat cells releasing oestrogen) and have put the kibosh on many a well laid plan. Bloody annoying (literally). |

Similar story but add in radiated pain so bad after a coil I couldn't put my right foot to the ground for the first two days of any period, the associated anaemia was also an issue, but....
A hysterectomy in 2008 and it's the most liberating thing I've ever had done |

I haven't had a period in 8 years and suffer dreadfully with post menopausal symptoms. I wish I could have my periods back, at least they only lasted 3 or 4 days and it's over for a while |

Did you have the copper coil then as it sounds like it. Ask for marina instead if you do. |

Yep, 30 years of monthly disruption; whether it be physical or mental, periods suck big time. Pain, embarrassing leakages, crazy mood swings and just plain old bloody inconvenience. You men have it so fucking easy... |

The other half had one fitted 7 months ago and has bled every day since ( hence us not playing ) , hospital consultant says it sometimes happens like that and is normal,
told him it was a great contraceptive as it really cuts down on the sex

The mirena doesn't work for everyone, for some of us that cocktail of hormones just makes everything even worse!
The most irritating thing about periods and swinging is when men suggest that we can still meet and they'll make do with a blow job and maybe anal!
Especially since during my periods I don't get cramps but that whole area is very tender and any kind of sex would feel violent! |

No, I have the mirena. Hate it - it hasn't helped at all - its irregular and still as bloody painful (pardon the pun) I've been told give it another 9 months (so a year in total) before they will consider alternatives |

Mrs S seems to cope fairly well really. Some years ago I surprised her by building her very own Menstral hut at the bottom of the garden. She enjoys her monthly time at what I like to call the Menstral Inn (oh how she laughed...the tears were running down her cheeks!). It provides her ample opportunity to get in touch with the 'Sacred Feminine' during her solitary repose. Time well spent contemplating the Luna driven wise wound de animus. She is a woman born anew when she creeps out into the sunlight after her four or five days in there ....We like to herald her return by playing 'Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves' at full volume through a tanoy system that I have rigged up on top of her hut. The neighbours always gather from both sides of our boundary fence to wave and offer some cheery words of congratulations.

Touch wood... Mine don't cause me much bother. I'm usually as regular clockwork but not 100% all the time, I get the occasional cramp but other than that my moods aren't affected and it's just another day! Lucky. |

I had the Mirena coil and it was the worse thing I ever did, had it for 9 month and bleed for 6 of them. The headaches, exhaustion - couldn't keep my eyes open past 5pm, back pains, the list goes on. The nurse didn't want to remove it until I told her I would do it myself! Took me 6 month to start feeling like me again. |

As my OH said earlier, I have a mirena - it's my third - first one worked like a dream I had it in for 8 years with very few periods and when I did have one it was usually a couple of days of light spotting with maybe 1 or 2 a year of heavier ones - an absolute dream. I went for a check up to find out that they are only supposed to be in for 5 years before being replaced so in December 2010, I had it done, I was in 'bloody' agony for 3 months, having a 2 week reprieve in the February before the deluge again until late March, I was irregular in both timings and in volume. I went to see specialist over 12 months ago who discovered I'd 'lost' it so had my 3rd fitted in the November - I was still bleeding in May so went back to the specialist who has put me on hormone treatment - that worked for about 3 weeks but now I'm back to the same old, same old. I have asked for an ablation and for a hysterectomy (I'm getting on and don't want more children) - the specialist insists I stick with the coil |
