They're all much like here you get what you pay for but if you've not booked anything go the the VVV or rent an apartment if there's a few of you going. Good luck and have fun.

Depends what your looking for. There's a b&b in dam square called hotel rokin. It's opposite madam tuesaud. It's not a bad hotel and on the plus side your in the main square.

Ive go to Amsterdam 2-3 times a year. Theres a hotel called olde Quarter post something like that. Your 5-10mins from the cafes, bars, red light district. Also the 3 kings hotel is a nice hotel. Watch out for pick pockets and street dealers. They tend to be black. Its a buzzing, surreal, sexy, magical place. You both will love it. Have funx

East Grinstead

Get the 3 day tram pass at the airport makes getting around so much easier.

If going to visit the usual clubs check what current deals are before going.

Central

The train from the airport is dirt cheap, about 4 euro, so beats taxi by a mile - taxis in Holland are very expensive. But, the train stations charge extra if you buy your ticket from staff - buy from the machines always, so take some euro coins if possible. Try a hotel away from tram lines, as they start early and bells and engines are noisy. Dam square area is a great hotel area. See the others' tips. Have fun.
