There was an English guy drowning his sorrows in a pub in Moffat when he decides to drive home. On the A74 he’s quickly stopped and the police have a word with him. He’s asked to join them in the police car and asked to blow into the breathalyser bag.
At this point he produces a small card, which says:
“The holder of this card is severely asthmatic. Please do not take his breath.”
So they cart him off to the police station to get a blood test. They get the doctor in, whereupon he produces another card:
“The holder of this card is severely anaemic. Please do not take his blood.”
“Oh well”, says the doc, "we’ll just have to rely on the urine test."
So then the Englishman produces another card:
“The holder of this card is an England supporter. Please do not take the piss.” |

Maybe unpatriotic but I have zero interest in the game. Everything in English football, from the FA, to the Premier League to grass roots is wrong and until govt starts taxing the game properly to ensure kids get access to proper coaching and facilities without ridiculous costs we will keep falling behind others. |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) | |
I will be watching the England game but only because our young boys want to watch it and they don't quite understand that England are already out....I haven't the heart to tell them to get used to it!
Such a damp squid in work today...they arranged dress down, competitions, events, all believing that England would still be in with a chance of qualifying. Walking through town on the way home and all the pubs are dead, when they should all be full!! |

if you think the government taking MORE money out of football would be plowed into grass roots, then you, sir, are an idiot.
the ONLY people that can put money into grass roots is th every people you want money taking away from.
if they have no interest in going it properly, then what chance is there of people that have little or no interest in it.
for christs sake, its not many years since the governments were selling off all the playing fields for developers.
i read some drivel in forums, but sweet jesus!!!!
back on the game, i thought that was a much better half than the whole of last game.
seems fairly even.

I did not bother to watch England, watched the Italy v Uruguay game instead. I'm glad Italy got knocked out after the poor show they put on against costa rica, but what was Suarez thinking?
I thought he headbutted the Italian when first saw it in realtime. Replay close up in slow motion clearly shows he bit the italian on the shoulder.
Suarez should get a lengthy ban from FIFA or he should get those goofy teeth pulled so he can't do it ever again.
I heard his favourite chocolate bar while living in England is.......Chomp!

France should win this, but all four countries can still go through so not as straight forward as that.

Hmmmm, the FA might disagree with you, after the last time when he put a faith healer onto the coaching staff and told the press that disabled people were being punished for their behaviour in a former life. |

I think France will win tonight and top their group.
As for who will win the world cup i'm going for Holland. About time they won it and they came so close all those years ago with Johan Cruyff and co. Final last time in South Africa with Spain aswel. Messi showed earlier today though he could win the world cup single handed for argentina like Maradona did in 86. |

If England can manage a victory then games against Aldi & Lidl will shortly follow!!

Ive never watched as many decent 0-0 ers that I can remember.
The commentators were raving about the Ecuador GK, every shot was straight at him though, however, good anticipation on his behalf.
Hope the french players who were hurt dont miss future games.
Hope they don't replay fouls on the big screens. |

I can see the USA going far. They've gradually improved since they first took part and they could be the dark horse of this World Cup, surprising everyone! |

No idea how USA are even in the second round, they were absolutely battered by Ghana for 90 minutes and comprehensively outplayed by a German team that didn't even get out of first gear. I'm a Clint Dempsey fan though
Put a few quid on Chile upsetting Brazil |

Ghana only managed 3 shots on target all tournament, USA scored right at the start and then again the end in their match together.
They are pace down the right and do fire a lot of crosses in and they are physical.
Ive been so impressed with gary medel (I am a cardiff fan), he plays as a sweeper so well, reads it like a childs book and just eats through balls for fun. Plays CM for us .......
I still think Brazil will be too much and hope they win. |

Anyone whom previously thought that the EPL or CL was the bees knees of footy, I hope you were watching Brasil vs Chile, - that was real football!
It's such a shame that they met so early, - two great attacking teams who both deserve to be still in the competition. |
