Don't know where I should fit in- Dad's from Walthamstow, but with a Glasgow accent, Mum's Scottish, but has a Buxton accent. I grew up in the middle of nowhere and am now officially a Weegie :o) |

I've only moved away from 'home' for 5 years however I'm sure I'll never forget it or think badly of where I grew up - even if it is thought locally to be twinned with beiruit!
I still travel back up there regularly to visit friends and family anyway so will never really lose touch completely. |

Kate and I are both Black Country born and bred. We moved south in '95 with my job.
We are settled now just outside Truro, and wouldn't move again.
Although we both love Yorkshire and South Wales |

The first 4 years of my life are pretty vague, all I know is we lived in Hammersmith. I do have some memories of living in London but I couldn't put a date or a specific place to them, and having been back there as an adult I find there is nothing there now that triggers any recollections from my past. I wouldn't live in London now even if you paid me to. |

I grew up in Scunthorpe. Never really moved far. Went to uni in Sheffield, then back to Scunthorpe.
Last year I moved down to Southend, and I love it. In reality, its not much different to Scunthorpe. The accent is just a bit dodgier!!!
I'll never forget where I grew up. But I did just that, grew up. Scunthorpe doesn't fit me anymore. Especially now my Gran has died. Yeah, I still have family there, but its not the tie it used to be. |

Never forgetting one's roots - it is also people who make a particular time in your life special - I have moved many times in my life, lived in a number of different countries and would probably be able to live almost anywhere - but even my roots are not so much about the location but about the family, relatives and friends I had. |

I find when I do go back to what used to be home, even for a short while - it does bring back memories quite instantly |

Oooooh don't you just love it when people feel the need to declare they're not racist!
Born in south London still live and work in south London.
The area has totally transformed! Gone is the market now gastro pubs, coffee shops and organic food shops, along with the Zephyrs and Hillman Hunters: now 4x4 and Mercs. |

"

It was founded by the Danes.
By is the old Danish word for village and Grim or Grimm is a Danish name,as in The Brothers Grimm,so it was probably Grims village.
Hence Grims-by, Grimsby. R |

I have been thinking about this since it was first posted, and still cant make up my mind how I feel about where I have lived my life.
I was born in a large town in Fife (Kirkcaldy), moved aged 3 to the counrtyside (Puddledub and yes its really a place) then aged 8 moved into a town (Kelty) a wee bit away, aged 12 moved again closer to the Forth(Rosyth), aged 16 moved out of the parents home.
Moved back to the place I was born, moved around a couple times still in the same town, aged 18 moved to a different town(Dunfermline), then over to Edinburgh.
Met Steven had my family, moved back to Fife aged 25.
Moved from a larger town(Glenrothes) to a small (very small) town - well is Kennoway a town?? population less than 1000 I think if you exclude the animals lol
So really other than Fife I cant say where Im from, cos my family moved a lot for work, in fact since I moved out my parents moved at least a dozen times more than I have always cos one or other got a better paying job somewhere else.

They do it so that all those ethnic people with chips on their shoulders feel justified about a misconceived sense of persecution they've felt all theur lives. |

"interesting....I have lived in many places... I believe I am a mix of Atlanta "coolness".... New York "toughness" and East End "street smarts".....
scary!!!! "
Having lived in a number of places kind of opens your eyes.. and heart to other people's different life styles and ways, dont you think? |
