for politely telling someone she looked gorgeous..a polite "not interested" would have been fine but maybe im just old school.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

site FAQs say noone is "owed" a reply.

She maybe blocks people she knows, people she doesn't like, and people she will never meet to save the mail. And not everyone takes a no thanks nicely.

So OK, for obvious reasons, we don't message many women, but do unsolicited 'ur gorgeous' messages from unknown and often unseen males generally go down that well ?

Or are they treated with a healthy sprinkle of cynicism ?

We got blocked from a single guy for saying "thanks for your message but no thanks to anything more"

At least we made the effort to answer his two word message lol

Think we probably had a lucky escape from meeting someone who said "we were being anal" for lettig him know we have said no in the past

Both with me

I know they're just trying it on but I always say thank you. Any further messages will probably go unanswered if they don't fit my requirements though.

Its sad that you can't send a polite compliment to someone without them assuming you want to shag them!! I send compliments to guys a lot but doesn't necessarily mean I want to meet them, as with a fabbed pic.

its probably a combination of me being newish to this and a little old school too, but lesson learned and like you say..move on.

To be fair if I'd received that message, as a first message I would of done the same. Messages from random fellas saying you are gorgeous when you haven't shown them a face pic are insincere. Or maybe she didn't like your avatar pic.Either way at least you knew she wasn't intetested.

For some it leads onto unwanted convos..when blocking really means 'thanks but no thanks'

If she replied saying 'thanks' would you have pursued her further?

Was that your sole intention? Or did you hope that it would lead to more? The lady in question has probably had experience of replying politely with a thank you only to be bombarded with requests to meet or rude response when she says she isn't interested. I'm sure that you wouldn't have done any of those things but blocking is probably the ladies way of protecting herself from those that do it's not personal

O o O oo

People should be allowed to block who they like without a thread being started on it.

Maybe just accept that some people will block you.
