Maybe there's a niche market in cycling apparel for the cycling swinger....Some delightful elephant trunk cycling bib shorts or edible chamois inserts....though they certainly wouldn't have a very long shelf life blehhh |

Denshaw over to Sowerby Bridge is one of my favourite climbs, the views are fantastic from the top. |

"How lucky you guys are to have such wonderful areas to cycle. Have to stick bike in the car if I want decent scenery to ride amongst "
We are, although on the outer edges of Manchester i can be in the hills in 10 minutes with routes than can take me North, East or South into beautiful scenery and some testing hills. Cragg Vale is nearby, Pendle Hill not far away etc. |

Or for us women, lean forward a bit when going over cobbles.
I turned up to work red faced and panting and was asked, " did you come on the bike?".
I replied, " yes, but I think I managed to pass it off as an asthma attack". |

Been riding a few months now. Just done London to Brighton purely to get it ticked off the list.
Currently got a few sportive's lined up and sorting out Coast 2 Coast on the road for next year as I don't think in going to have to to fit it in this year.
Can't say I've ever considered playing whilst out riding though lol. |

By the dam? Yeah I think so, there's some nice rides to be had round Huddersfield, I like to ride up Jackson bridge and out to Sheffield then come back all the way on penistone road and Wakefield road |

Two evening rides for me this week, Weds 36 mile/2100ft ascent at an av.17.7mph & last nights 23.5mile/1400ft ascent at 18.02mph av.
Aiming for over 500 miles per month but only on 2225 miles for the yr so far, bad weather & a broken bike in feb/march kept my mileage down.
Must do better.. |

I found getting a GPS unit was both a help & a nuisance, it helps because you are always conscious of your speed so try to keep your average up. Conversely i found its impossible to go for a leisurely ride because i wanted to push it all the time! |

"I've not bought any of these yet, I will depending on how much I like it..although I've cheapish ones on eBay but I'm guessing they will be rubbish"
Er.. It does rather depend on what you want it for really. If you want a simple computer to give you speed/time/distance etc you don't have to spend much, if you want GPS capabilities for mapping/route finding etc then they aren't cheap.
I have a Mio 505 unit, cost me £230 but it has WiFi, full UK & Ireland maps, get me home function, surprise me function, Di2 and Bluetooth compatibility so i find it pretty useful.

That's a fair old piece of kit
I've got a garmin edge 500 with heart rate monitor and speed and cadence sensor, cost me 180 |

If I had the money I'd be terrible for kit, our issue is there's 2 of us, so all our expenses double lol |

Done a couple of short tens this week so far. But works got in the way!
So can't wait to get out Sunday morning.
It's the slow club ride for 25 miles at 15mph so I'll do that and then add another 25 miles at 17/18 mph. Missing the miles this week!
I try to maintain 100 miles a week avg. Currently sitting at 91 weekly avg. Mainly because when I have been able to ride lately the weather has let me down. Then when I return to work and can't ride the weather improves!
A Fab group ride could be fun if we can do a central location! |

At the beginning of the yr i signed up to an Endomondo challenge - 500 miles a month.
Its been an eye opener exactly how difficult it is to log up 500 plus miles a month although ive managed it over the last two months & I'm on course for this month with only 130 miles to go.
If i hadn't started doing more Imperial Centuries I'd be even further off the pace, its hard to combine so many miles with everything else plus i have a physical job so getting back on the bike after ive commuted home is often less than appealing!
Usually feel better afterwards though & much better mentally the day after.
Maybe I'm becoming addicted to the endorphins? |

I can so relate! I work shift and we have kids. I want to bring my average speed up to jump on the faster group on Saturdays but struggle to get the miles in how I want to.
I think I am going to start interval training and hill repeats. It would be so different if I just had a little more time. |

I used to love doing that to people, nowadays it happens to me a lot. As for descending I love it, only time it went wrong was showing off. I had my chin a few inches off my stem, I hit a bump and the stem hit my chin. Thank god my ego and chin were the only things bruised. |

Just to give you idea of how quick he climbs, there expecting the pros to go up cragg in around 16 to 18 minutes, he's done it in 18.07, where as I'm at 25 minutes |

I'm a bit further north and tend to ride up in the dales. Just heading out for a 60m loop with a bit of climbing. Long Preston, Settle, Malham Tarn, Kettlewell, Threshfield, Skipton and home.
Always up for company if anyone wants a social ride, but work shifts so tend to do my biggies on week days. |
