When I was a kid, the car that caught my imagination was the Opel Manta. One of my teachers in the not too early 80's was seeing the son of a rally driver called McCrae and he turned up at school in his Opel Manta, which really got us all fired up.
What car did you dream about when you were a kid? |

super car - Ferrari F40
owned - Datsun 100a
Not much difference, mind you I could do a complete engine and gearbox change by street light with 4 spanners and 2 screwdrivers....... |

Silver Capri 3.0s - like in the professionals. Actually had the luck to own one. Was a beast.
Now I want a Mk2 jaguar. Or an Austin Cambridge. Or a 52 Buick.

I always wanted a Lamborghini Countach aswel, fell in love with it after watching the Cannonball run films and had posters of Lamborghinis all over my bedroom walls as a kid.
I also loved the Lotus esprit turbo, grew up watching the Roger Moore James Bond films and his Bond car of choice was always an esprit. |

Vauxhall chevette hsr or lotus sunbeam
Got to own the latter in full rally spec was awesome sideways everywhere wet roundabouts were playtime . Horrendous fuel consumption (8mpg) when worked hard & high maintainance meant I soon traded for a rally spec nova sport much easier on the wallet |

"Jaguar XJS"
Not an XJS, but my dad had an XJ6 in a gorgeous plummy colour when we were kids, I can remember him taking me to school in it and feeling the Dogs Bollox when I pressed the button to wind the window down and say hiya to my mates! Happy days |

White Cadillac Coupe Deville driven by Frank Cannon
Gran Torino driven by Starsky (Hutch's car did nothing for me)
Aston Martin DBS and Ferarri Dino driven by the Persuaders.
Orange Ford RS2000 my mate's brother owned and drove like a rally car around the streets.
Ahhhh the memories

Over the rainbow, under the bridge |
My brother's pedal car. But my parents wouldn't buy me one because I was a girl. I got a pram instead which I turned into a go - cart and sliced my thumb open on. I still have the scar today. |

I wanted a VW beetle like herbie.

Not as a kid as such, but when Mercedes updated the 230ce and 280ce and bought out the W124 series around 1985 I was drooling. They cost more than my house at the time.
Anyway, back in 2007 I bought a near mint Merc 230ce. I still have it and love it to bits. |
