Murder in Colchester

Now, i don't really post or comment on topics such as this. But, for me. It's rather amazing that a story like this isn't talked about much nor given any publicity in the media.

Isn't it quite strange how once the tables are turned. Silence prevails. Be it through the media or otherwise.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I'm afraid there are a considerable amount of people who would secretly applaud the murder of a Muslim, and would probably say she brought it on herself for wearing a hijab.

Titz Towers, North Notts

It's an appalling reason to murder someone, if that is the reason. I don't understand hating someone just because they have a different faith, colour, football team they support and so on.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

The story doesn't sell copy in the same way that a Muslim killing a white non-Muslim would.

The stories that get told shape how we view the world.

At the moment it's not clear that being Muslim and wearing the hijab were the reasons for her murder.

Murder is tragic for the families involved and my thoughts are with them.

All murder is wrong and totally contemptuous, but if this is, as is being suggested a hate crime then it is truly abhorrent. And if it is I hope her killers are sentenced in the same way as Lee Rigby's were.

"was this the murder in castle park a few weeks back?"

Yesterday. There was another murder of a man earlier in the year at Castle Park that is being linked to this case.

Murder isn't so sensational now. There was one in my town recently where they chopped his body up and threw it around a country park. It was on the news but can't remember which channel

No mention of it I just looked it up.

You would think the murder of a woman with no known motive would make the news.

sadly there's a lot of truth in this. Unless the press have a 'angle to focus on or the murder is particularly shocking most murders don't make it beyond the local news

Not seen owt about it but murder is bad regardless of who its against.

I fear that if racially motivated there will be others quite simply look at the islamist group isis in iraq and whats happening there along with british citizens fighting over there.

And the risk to the uk of folk returning here as potential terrorists.

My view is quite simple anyone who does not like the british way of life should be able to go fight and live in country of choice but use all powers available to not allow them back using if required anti terrorism laws.

The threat is real and I truly believe that this will be catalyst for attacks on muslims how I hope to be wrong.

This has been the 2nd murder in as many months in the Colchester area. The first one didn't get much page inches either, but was on CrimeWatch when there was no leads.

Albeit a little late, they are now switching the street lights on all night now, before yesterdays murder they were switched off at midnight to save money. Shame it took a 2nd murder.

Wow So basically the murder of a young muslim female provokes an anti-muslim rant effectively blaming her religion for her death...

Without being personal, I must say concepts like 'the British way' smell of racism. The truth is there isn't a British way of life. This murder shows that only stories that sell and the people have the appetite for make it big. If it materialises that this was a hate crime then this should get the exact same coverage as Lee Rigbys horrific murder. But none of the hate crimes against Muslims (there have bomb attack at mosques, murders and violent attacks in the last 3 years) have gained significant coverage. Unfortunately only things that portray one group as villain's gains coverage to achieve certain groups own political gains.

An example of this would be Quran (22:19-21) - "But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them; boiling fluid will be poured down on their heads; Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted; And for them are hooked rods of iron" or even Quran (4:56) -

Really? There's plenty more, think a few people would do well to actually have a read.

All Muslim children are taught the Quran, are they not? Therefore they are being taught hate towards non Muslims ( its in black and White above)

I'm preaching nothing, just pointed out a few facts in response to people immediately saying that it was a 'race' or hate murder. Islam is NOT a race

Firstly, and most importantly. The murder of this lady in Colchester, whether it be racially motivated or not, is a despicable act and a terrible tragedy for her and her family, and I hope the perpetrator is caught and punished to the full extent of the law.

Secondly the comments above cannot go unanswered.

THE BRITISH WAY OF LIFE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACISM.

Contrary to popular belief Britain has its own culture. A culture that has been two thousand years in its development. A culture that has been added to by many invaders and immigrants over the centuries. Romans, Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Vikings, and more recently Asian and Afro-Caribbean. Notice that I left out the Normans who were really Vikings who took the long way around

What all of these have in common is that they adopted some of the native culture while adding some of their own to it.

Today however there is a sizeable rump of the Muslim community who seem hell bent on imposing their will and their culture on us all, and for some by force of arms if necessary. Sadly the peace loving majority of Muslims are either in denial or too scared to take any real action against the extremists.

For two thousand years the foundation stone of British culture has been tolerance, but it is a two way street. It is about time some people remember that before playing the RACISM card at the slightest hint of any criticism towards some sections of the community.

i agree religion is an excuse, i don't see the extremists as muslins they just use it as a reason to spread their hate, if not behind that religion they would find another subject to spread their hate, sadly its the innocent genuine believers that suffer when the extremists hit the media

I would agree you will find some but "plenty" is a very ambiguous word.

It could mean a few thousand or it could also mean a couple of dozen. From what I see in the left and right wing press and even on the BBC. I would guess the latter.

You do know that, that part is talking about hell? How on earth is someone going to make a garment out of fire over here? That's just a description of what would take place in hell. You forgot about the few verses before and the description of paradise - i don't think it was describing Kew Gardens in those verses.

My point is. The government and all these think tanks/media are trying to tackle these issues. But, the way the handle the news or the angle they show it; even the action/inaction of the government is what is fuelling the hate between different communities.

It's the people on the ground that ultimately suffer who have no part to play in all this.

I suspect that it may be an 'honour killing', and that the police have advised the press to be discreet in order not to inflame the local community and perhaps inspire more anti-muslim sentiment. I also note that Colchester has a considerable military presence. I'm a committed supporter of our boys, but PTSD can be quite severe (i.e. sufferers are sadly sometimes sectioned for the protection of themselves and others), and it's possible to imagine a nightmare scenario where an undiagnosed sufferer was wound up or threatened and responded phsically ... it's a low probability but possible .. let's hope this isn't the case but I'm sure the police have considered it though. Either way Colchester is a somewhat unusual melting pot, and it's therefore potentially a very sensitive story, so probably best to wait until someone is proven guilty. Fingers crossed for a clean resolution to this one. It's good to see everone expressing concern over this awful awful event though.

As the police havr said that the liklihood of this being a hate crime is one of their main lines of enquiry what reason is their to suspect it's a hate crime? Or that she somehow provoked her killer?

"I suspect that it may be an 'honour killing', and that the police have advised the press to be discreet in order not to inflame the local community and perhaps inspire more anti-muslim sentiment. It's good to see everone expressing concern over this awful awful event though."

Sorry but what an earth is a clean resolution?

Ah - apologies - I guess I meant a resolution at the cleaner end of the spectrum - i.e. one that is unlikley to inflame community relations. OF COURSE there is no such thing as a clean resolution as a valuable life has been extinguished and there are people somewhere that have lost someone the loved. Well pointed out and apologies again for any insensitivity ... it was absolutely not intended.

"As non believers in Islam, you should be burnt and have your insides melted! ( check the Quran) bear that in mind! Islam is NOT a race its a made up religion of violence,

The Quarn that I read promoted peace anx tolerance. But I guess if you are violent natured you are going to interpret violence whatever your skin colour and whatever book you read.

Oh yes.... Paradise and the 72 virgins. Good luck with that! Whichever way you threaten to burn and melt someone for not believing the same as you makes no ounce of difference, I mean 'hell' really lol"

but hell don't exists so don't worry about it

"All Muslim children are taught the Quran, are they not? Therefore they are being taught hate towards non Muslims ( its in black and White above)

I'm preaching nothing, just pointed out a few facts in response to people immediately saying that it was a 'race' or hate murder. Islam is NOT a race

"

But wasn't the point you were trying to make was that all Muslims want to burn all non believers and you quoted this part of the Quran as proof of this. When in fact it is a description of what happens in the afterlife. The text is not saying hate non believers it is merely describing what happens to them when they die, much the same as the Christian bible does.

"Not seen owt about it but murder is bad regardless of who its against.

Wow So basically the murder of a young muslim female provokes an anti-muslim rant effectively blaming her religion for her death..."

Sorry if it came across that way was not my intention what i was trying to get across is there is a rise in racially motivated assaults from all sides of the equation and the rise of islamist attacks on democratically ekected governments as with iraq cannot be ignored and this type of thing plays into hands of the far right brigade and must not and should not be ignored.

Without being personal, I must say concepts like 'the British way' smell of racism. The truth is there isn't a British way of life. It's the way of life the Scandinavians (vikings), the Italians (romans), the French (nomans) etc up to more recently the Indian subcontinent have bought with them. The British way of life doesn't actually exist, and is a fallacy that some use to justify their own extreme views.

Section 28 that was in force until as recently as 2003.

(Section 28 of the Local Government Act 1988 prohibited local authorities in England and Wales from "promoting" homosexuality. It also labelled gay family relationships as "pretend".)

You missed Elizabeth Tudor who was quite fond of burning a catholic or two, and Oliver Cromwell who didn't much care for the Irish.

You also missed, by a country mile, the point.

British culture and tolerance have been built, and is still building, for centuries and it has had a lot of pitfalls on the way and many wrongs that have been righted. It didn't just appear in 1066 or whatever date you would like to put there, it evolved.

What it doesn't need is a section of the community who want to take us back to the days of burning people for having the wrong god, and if they had their way losing the vote would be the least of women's worries.

Far more violence in Star Wars, far more interesting than the Bible or the Quran, and there's a few films. Jediism has very few extremists, no martyrs that I'm aware of either, why aren't we all Jedi's?

I was only pointing out that Britain showed little tolerance frequently in the last 2000 years. I did not try to chronical all of these. For your education Cromwell was a saviour for many of the inhabitants of Ireland as he defended them from genocide. It's funny how peoples' views of history differ!
