Andrew Marr show....OMG wondering what carp this lying war criminal will come up with this time?
Given the huge responsibility he has for the current situation in Iraq I'm surprised he has the gall to actually show his face in public. He must have one hell of a thick skin.
Anyone else going to be watching the scumbag? |

"not a fan but thought he was a 'special envoy' for the middle east and not solely Iraq..?
"
Special peace envoy actually. That has to be some kind if ironic joke...... For the guy who is jointly responsible for most of the current trouble in the region... |

Because the current situation in Iraq is of a direct consequence of the illegal war which he and dub ya perpetrated. Resulting in the current sectarian Shia government who have totally ostracised the Sunni and led to what is basically a tribal/civil war which totally untrained government troops have abandoned US and UK supplied weapons into the hands of ISIS. |

would agree with what you say about the 2nd gulf war and was at the front of the stop the war march in opposition to it but the 'region' is what you were talking about..
thought ISIS began in Syria...? |

Indeed...and therein lies the twist. Iraq or Syria?.....Saddam or Assad?......oil or no oil?.....can we see the pattern here? |

Why is Iraq in such a mess?
Because of 2nd Iraq war.
Why was there a 2nd War?
Because Bush and Blair lied through their teeth to parliament and to the public.
Fabricated document regarding WMD.
Even now the report into it , started in 2009 is being blocked so the whole findings will not be released.
If it ever does get released then Blair should end up behind bars where he belongs |

Just seen a snippet of the interview on the news.
Blair is blaming the current crisis and the rise of the militant group ISIS on the failure to remove the regime in Syria. Seems he is not for being apologetic and as slippery as ever. The truth is that the region is in turmoil due in part to the mistake made in pandering to Bush and invading Iraq. He did lie to parliament on WMD and the conflict was not legal.
The mood in the US is for limited air strikes against ISIS. Given the past performance of the US intelligence community I would be fearful for a small swingers club in Leeds! |

The troubles in Iraq are caused by religion; like so many other wars. Eliminate religion and the whole world will be far more peaceful.
Sadam Hussain was no saint, he favoured exclusively his own caste and he killed 100,000s of his citizens including gasing them. Blair was not responsible for those atrocities but he, in part, stopped them. Least we forget, it was Hussain who said he had WMDs. Our intelligence at that time was so bad we did not know if he was lying.
Many wars have been won; it is many times harder to win the peace. Blaming Blair may be popular but it is far from the whole story.

Don'r believe the last Iraq war justified, but also feel that it is short sighted to put this down to Blair. We would have gone into that war no matter who was PM at the time.
Major and the Other Bush pulled the no fly zone quickly at the end of the previous war to allow Hussain to use gun ships violently quash a poorly armed rebellion, Cameron supplied arms to Libyan forces with scant checks on who they actually were and no attempt to recover them after. Syria has been allowed to descend unchecked into a terrible civil war.
The root of the problem probably goes back to the British / French dividing it up and drawing borders arbitrarily.
Now weirdly enough there is talk of an alliance between US and Iran to put down the rebellion before it spreads, now that is a left field ball!
Bottom line is it's a mess, and short sighted blame games are no better than short sighted politics. |

sure blair can't be blamed for the 100,000's that saddam killed, I'll give you that.
but blair and bush CAN be blamed for the 1,000,000+ innocent deaths and 1,000's of service men and women that was a result from that iilegal war.
Were more innocents was killed ten fold than Saddam ever killed.
all because bush wanted to finish of daddys war and used the "war on terror" agenda to get it.
The war on peace will never be won and its not because of religions its because there is so much profit from war.
The war on terror was the perfect solution to keep us at a ever lasting war.
and where did the war on terror evolve from... yep 911 where the official story has so many holes in it and unanswered questions, and 1,000s of architects and engineers and pilots and first responders all say that what happened that day on the official story is just nonsense.

No one is saying he's doing a 'great job'..
given the state of the region which funnily enough is bigger than Iraq and Syria and there has been conflict in other parts..
blaming him for Syria is nonsense, you can equally blame 'democracy' as initially the arab spring and the changes it started is what led to a part of the population opposing Asssad..
albeit there are sectarian divides behind a lot of these issue's ..
but for anyone to blame the ails of a whole region on one person is naïve whatever their politics..
it distorts history..
for his part in the Iraq war etc he should be held to account certainly, that he was appointed as an envoy in a region where he is seen as anything other than a man of peace says a lot about him and those who appointed him..

The war wasn't illegal for the specific reason that there is no actual enforceable law making it such. Treaties, contrary to popular belief, are not law and breaches are only punished on a selective basis because there is no central body able to hold countries to account. The war infringed normative practice in the international arena. It was not given un security council support but the u.s. didn't care and did it anyway.
Syria is a completely different kettle of fish and to say that the west refused to intervene in Syria due to lack of oil is phenomenally shortsighted. Syria has Russia and China protecting Assad. That coupled with the lack of domestic support for another intervention in both the u.s. and uk are what stopped that intervention cold.
