You get used to it after a few months. I've stopped moaning and tutting every time it happens or it switches pages on me. The page switching is more annoying but it's useful when you need it |

You could always hand your windows hate laptop to a homeless person, and buy a Macbook Air instead!
Also, what posessed you to instal Windows hate? It is by far, the single worst operating system I have ever used. And I have used lot of systems ranging from Dos 2 - OSX via speccy, linux and some home grown ones.
Honestly, why? WHY? would you do that to yourself? Is it because you like BDSM? is that it? you installed win hate because you enjoy pain? |

(him) Windows 8 is the worst operating system for any laptop or desktop pc. When I built my latest PC last year (always build my own, half the price of a package from Dell or PCWorld) I refused to even entertain Windows 8.
It was originally designed for touch screen tablets, phones & desktops with touch screen monitors which did not convert over very well for keyboard & mouse. I will stick to my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. There's nothing wrong with 7 & is a very good OS. |

If you want your win 8 machine to look like win 7
How to Boot to the Desktop in Windows 8.1
In Windows 8.1, the appropriate setting is found in the "Taskbar and Navigation properties" window. To open it, you have several options. The fastest is to go to the Desktop and right click on the taskbar (or tap and hold). In the contextual menu, click or tap Properties.
Alternatively, you can open the Control Panel and go to "Appearance and Personalization". There, click or tap "Taskbar and Navigation".
In the "Taskbar and Navigation properties" window, click or tap the Navigation tab.
In the Start screen section, check the box which says "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start". Another setting that is worth enabling is "Show Start on the display I’m using when I press the Windows logo key", so that you have a quick way to access the Start while on the Desktop.
Then, click or tap OK and you are done. The next time you log into Windows 8.1, it will take you straight to the Desktop.
Then install a copy of stardock start8
