The guy needs to teach himself some values.
'Fix your own home first before you try fixing someone else's home'.
Are there any set British values? Or is it just ways to behave?

I don't think anybody truly knows and that's why it's a rather ill informed comment to make.
Culturally the country is different all over with all areas offering different experiences from beautiful hills and scenery to bustling cities with history or traditions...but standards ? Aren't those simply the things that decent people have irrespective of origins ? |

Being unable to cope with national pride without a vicious undercurrent of racism sneaking in from certain areas.
Overconfidence at football.
An understanding that you must dress for all weather at all times.
Failure to realise that actually the country is pretty bloody good. |

It is the word decent that is terrifying there. Decency is what sees gay people shunned and ostracised. Decency is what kept black people as a subclass. Decency is subjective and can be wheeled out by any intolerant bigot. |

Don't complain in public
Avoid speaking the real truth at all costs then winge about it when you get home
Grasp power at all costs
Appreciate that rules are there to be broken by you but not by anyone else... |

Over the rainbow, under the bridge |
"Cameron has said he will back a campaign to actively promote English values in schools.
What, in your opinion, are English values?"
It's just another meaningless soundbite from another politician who does not have a clue what goes on in the 21st century classroom. |

I would suggest the word decent isn't open to interpretation as you suggest.
The modern world is far more aware of people's plights and individual needs and feelings and the days of hiding away atrocities from the public eye are disappearing.
Even some of the world's worst atrocities have never hidden under the guise of decent acts ?
The most blinkered of us is aware what decent is I believe. It's simply whether you truly believe it or try to convince yourself of it. |

"Professional tea drinking.
Knowing ones rights.
Rigid class structures.
Innovative spirit."
I'd argue that the rigid class structure is created by the working class these days? |

How to queue politely even when someone pushes in.
How to make a decent cup of tea.
How to begin every sentence with 'I'm not racist but.....'
How to complain but never compliment.
Or in my opinion a deluded public educated tosser who has no clue about education. |

I would agree with that. |
