Not so much unfunny, but living on their reputations:
Billy Connolly and Peter Kaye.
Both were brill when they started, but both are now so established as wits that they don't make that much of an effort anymore. |

Ricky Gervais
Steve Coogan
Lee Nelson
Greg Davies
Michael McIntyre
John Bishop
I enjoyed Alan Carr b4 he was properly famous. Just way too scripted now.
There are very few US comedians that I find funny too. |

That Sara Millican is so unfunny that I didn't realise she was trying to be funny.
It's like someone's auntie had wandered into a TV studio and they've told her to recite knitting patterns. |

No, can see that, is far too self centred look at me on TV. Mind you I saw that blond comedian, you know the one that was married to Amanada Holden, did family fortunes for ages,I saw him before he was famous, he was brilliant. I don't know what happened |

same with everyone.
mainstream is where the money is, and mainstream isnt contraversial, or overtly funny, so you get the same, bland plastic comedians, much the same as plastic pop stars |

Victoria Wood
Dawn French
Phil Cool
Lee Evans
I have so much as had a chortle at any of these.
I saw Phil Cool at the theatre, who did a stage share with Jasper Carrott. Jasper was superb and I laughed so much my sides hurt. I was nice when Phil Cool came on, as it gave me recover time! |

One of the bravest stand-ups I ever heard of was a man who was unfunny on purpose, just to wind the audience up. His name is Ted Chippington, check him out! Stewart Lee cites him as a reason he got into comedy. |

I think all this thread proves is that people have different tastes doesn't it? Not that any of them are actually unfunny, because the fact that you've seen them perform somewhere says otherwise.
But for me Ricky Gervais, excellent standup, shite telly shows.
And I'd like to liberally carpet bomb a Michael McIntyre gig. |

I suppose some opf the above can be considered funny..my main thing is I dont like stand up..the very act of going to watch one persons (probably similar routine around the country)view on life, bores me.
Acts like Frankie Boyle have realized this and now seek to further peoples interest by basically picking on people you maybe shouldnt...or making fun of someones elses misfortune..
people may find it funny...as they become social hyenas, some not often even laughing at whats been said...but because others laughed...to me its pretty primal and childish
The same can be said for the likes of Jeremy Clarkston...I probably wouldnt mind if he presented Top Gear with more interest in the cars than actually being some plonker trying to make up highbrow but stupid jokes. |

Rhod Gilbert. Saw him at the Edinburgh Fringe one year and came out running to the bar to sink 2 doubles in 5 mins! Total stress. An hour of shouting and ranting and jumping about. Not funny either.
Lee Evans for the same reasons.
Met Frankie Boyle after his fringe show once and he asked me.."do you think I went too far?". My son said I probably looked like id be easily offended being old and crusty! Charming...
Seriously, if anyone is thinking of visiting Edinburgh for the festival don't hesitate. Its fabulous. I'll be your guide..maybe! Lol
