Yes, it's looking pretty serious. Plenty of advice to get and run scanning software to detect this virus, if you're a Microsoft user.
Fortunately I've got Apple computers, so I will be immune.

I wouldnt be so smug about your Apple products.
Seems they are being targeted using the same software that you use to track your product if lost or stolen.
They then lock it and demand cash to release it. |

If you research that story further you will find that they have to trick you into giving them your password. It's not a software virus.
