Anyone have any quirky or unusual cake recipes they are happy to share? I normally do a carrot & walnut cake to take into work but I'm after a new spin for this year.

I will of course send some back to the forum for you all...although last time I put cake in the CD tray it didn't work out so well!

How you display it, how you decorate it or the cake itself?

Red Velvet is always popular.

That's got a wow factor if I got the colour vibrant enough.

I meant ingredient wise more than anything. I could google recipes but a tried and tested recipe would be great.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Cutie, cakes and yoga? You just get better and better.

I like a lemon drizzle for something that looks safe but then packs a punch of flavour.

I was thinking that earwig and fruit bat testicle roulade would be quite unusual

Does everyone get cake? Is this what I missed by us not being able to meet?

Ok I'm big on cakes n stuff. I'm a total chocaholic and the darker the better. I do truffles, cheesecakes, mouses, roulades, etc...and so when it comes to doing a special cake I like to mix it all up and experiment...sooo...this would be mine...

Cheesecake base...digestives crushed up with butter and roll in some dark chocolate.

On top of that I'd do a roulade layer...dark chocolate...too tricky to go into here but bloody gorgeous.

Then on top of that comes a kinda mouse...well really it's a cheat cause it's a combination of a chocolate truffle with mascapone cheese mixed into it to lighten it up.

finally...if you really want a heart bypass you could layer some whipped cream on top..

finish by sprinkling blue berries and raspberries on top.

Oh...and if you want true debauchery...soak the roulade sponge section in brandy before putting the other layers on top.

Yummmmmmm (Him)
