Should the use of powered garden tools be banned on a Sunday. I know I'm a grumpy old git, but all I can hear today is lawn mowers, hedge cutters and blowers. Totally ruining a lovely sunny day. |

No. Its the sound of people enjoying their gardens and looking after them. I love Sunday morning village sounds....the church goers over the road singing, people mowing lawns, kids playing in the gardens.
You're just grumpy cos they are reminding you you have to do yours lol |

You are right, lawn needs cutting, bushes need trimming and I'm too lazy to do it, far too nice to be working! |

No. Power tools should not be banned on Sundays.
I'd say yes but .....
I've just DROVE to a SWIM had breakfast in a CAFE drove over to M and S and was passed by some masses making COMMUNION and an AMBULANCE on it's way to HOSPITAL passed the CREMATORIUM where there was a FLOWER SELLER stopped at the SHOP for a NEWSPAPER ....
No such thing as Sundays now. They went years ago.
Ban the powertools then we have to ban many things ..... maybe like the PUB when I was a kid they had odd opening hours on a sunday and the T.V. came on late, went off in the afternoon and ended early in the night too . |

No, Sundays are garden days. Unless you have a neighbour who constantly uses his skill saw in his shed then a few lawn mowers and hedge trimmers aren't a problem to me. Evenings in a nicely kept garden with my family are my idea of heaven |

"In belguim you cant mow your lawn on a sunday or bank holiday and they have strict hours in which you can do it"
It is the same in Germany where they also have restrictions on the number of BBQs you can have in certain areas! |

I spoke to my daughter last Saturday as we went to the car and she went .....SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH it's half eight |

"I like the sound of mowers etc, its a summer sound "
The birds singing, a gentle breeze blowing through leaves, smell of a BBQ, those are summer sounds and smells. The noise of petrol engines for hours on end especially on a Sunday..... Bah humbug! |

It could be worse. My neighbour has, very noisily, been renovating the semi-detached property connected to mine since November. He frequently starts well before 8am and carries on until late evening. He has been known to continue until midnight, (he was chasing out channels in brick walls for rewiring at the time, so that was delightful. 18 hours per day of chiselling, hammering, drilling and electric cutting tools against the party wall was so much fun).
He could have rebuilt the entire place twice in the time he's been doing it, so I have no idea how he's not finished yet.
Anyway, he is now replacing the kitchen. Yesterday, in addition to all the crashing, hammering and electric saw noise, he decided to do the sawing and the sanding in his garden about 8 feet from my back door.
Because it was warm and because I'd let the cats out, my door was open (which he would have been able to see) so my kitchen got covered in cut/sanded wood dust.
I'll swap my neighbour for your gardening ones if you like. |
