I just thought wtf after the first set of knocks.. paused n kept still..
They were calm knocks. Not rushed or like kids messing then running.
Didnt answer the door.. turned off the tv then went to bed.. then they knocked my bedroom window |

Our little flat has its downsides but 1 thing I love is the security it offers.
Unless they can scale walls they aren't getting to the front door.
And then when they get there, there are 2 doors to get thru b4 ur in the flat. |

During the day id not give a hoot.. but it was 11pm at night and just felt intrusive to have someone knock on my front room then bedroom window. If it was a neighbour she'd have called me or said my name through the letterbox or something.. |

Call 101 if feeling threatened...I tend not to lock my door until,I go to bed...a few years back there was a knock on the door and it opened and a complete (pissed) stranger walked in...I wasn't expecting visitors and dived up to see who it was...he insisted it was his mates house but when I calmly explained there was just me he apologised and buggered off - have to say, it took me an hour or so to calm down! |

That once happened to me. Didn't open the door and called the police who were really quick to get here. Guy just very d*unk and confused but it scared the shit out of me and daughter.

I live at the end of a cul de sac and get kids knocking on my doors all the time. Its scary as hell but as long as they go away it should be OK. If you're still scared ring the police. I did once and they were fine about it. |

I moved from the centre of town as a d*unk tried to break in when amber was 9 months. That shook me up.
Still its handy having a mate with a policeman for a partner.

I had similar a few months ago. Knocking at three in the morning on the door and window. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my mouth. It was a teenage lad looking for the lad who lives next door but one and got the wrong house  |

I once had 2 d*unk men walk into my hotel room (somehow their key card worked?!) while I was sitting reading a magazine in nothing but a little nighty. Shat me up! They exited pretty quickly but still scared me. I complained to the posh, overpriced hotel and got a free meal. Whoop de do!

could have just been a late night visitor of the old occupants that hadnt been for a fair while or summat.
i had similar when i was a lad, about 17/18.
lay on the sofa at my parents, watching tv in the dark, wen i heard banging on the front room window.
looked up to see a balaclava covered face staring at me.
i absolutely shat my pants!!!!
he shouted something about fucking me up and then disappeared.
i didnt move for at least an hour |

Murderers aren't fussy about knocking either.
You did the right thing. Never answer the door.
If they try to get in tell them it'll make you very very cross.
If it is someone who really needs help e.g a woman being raped or a man being kicked to death .... offer to call the police.
BUT NEVER EVER EVER EVER OPEN THE DOOR.
My best advice is get cctv installed then you can see who is there.
Get a voice changer too and shout FUCK OFF MATE in a mans voice.

things always seem worse at night I had one occasion when I heard the key in the door and thinking it was my hubby I opened it and in barged this woman who then stood in my hall and said oh this isn't my house is it? she was from 2 doors away if I hadn't been on the phone I don't know what id have done but they were in stitches listening to what happened |
