I let my son who is 15 go down to exmouth on the train for the second time this week tonight...for him to have missed the train! The next one is not till midnight!!!   |

Oooh I know that feeling!
My son catches the train to school each day, trusting him to do that has been a huge learning curve for me & him.
Is Exmouth far from you, would he be able to get a taxi home if need be?

it's 25 min drive from me and would cost a fortune, obviously if it was the last train he missed I would have gone and borrowed my parents car and went and got him. I probably won't allow him to go there at night for a while sadly |

Well he's learnt a lesson tonight about time keeping & what happens when you don't stick to it.
Do you know his mates parents,if so maybe you can speak to them about the lads sticking together when they're out at night? |

some parents are strict, maybe the worry of what they would get if they got home late was at the forefront of their mind, kids don't think like adults |

they aren't his mates from school, Iv not met these mates else I would have spoke to them. I'd like to think his school mates wouldn't have left him! The thing is you try and let go and let them do things but I worry so much. |

yes they would have phones but clearly just thinking of them selves, if it was earlier in the evening I wouldn't be worrying as much. |

me too
my eldest is 22 and I still sit up till she gets home if she goes out, if she's only going to a pub and isn't home by 12 I call her to see where she is  I tell her before she goes out if they decide to go onto a club to text me so I know she will be late |

Maybe he was too young to let go out via only a train as transport home... As much as is like to keep him home all the time I have to let go of the strings sometimes.
Happy to say he is home safe and knows how worried I have been. |

He was out with friends they shouldn't have left him - tell him off give him a hug and tell him you love him - just be thankful for mobile phones - when I was a lad lol |

I'm glad everything has worked out.
You know what though if you don't let them do these kind of things with your permission they'll probably end up doing them behind your back which is far worse.
He knows you were worried and that he will have to gain your trust if he wants to go there again. |
