Reading the Guardian online today and found out that the acronym "LOL" celebrates it's 25th birthday today. Pointless trivia but the way people communicate has changed a lot in that time.
For all those who love and hate text-speak, It's here to stay. Happy Birthday LOL.

I have never used it and never will so "ha" is my substitute and if i "haha" or more Thats really really funny.ha.

Does anyone else think is like a laugh but a bit sarcastic the way he's smiling and showing his teeth as much. is more approachcable. |

As is often the case the Grudian is wrong again First documented computer use of LOL was early to Mid 80's by a bloke called Wayne Peterson, so it's past it's mid 20's by now! BUT before that it has been used in English since the 60's to mean little old lady, in Dutch it's the word Fun, and in Welsh it's the word nonsense. Amazing what Google knows isn't it... how come journalists haven't heard of Google? |

I remember when i very first went in a chat room and everyone was typing them like brb, lol afkb ect and i didnt have a bloody clue what they where talking about, must of got sick to death of me asking and then i found a lisst of them all online and learnt them, like learning a new language |
