I don't have one any more, otherwise you could have it, but you can by those medical boots for broken ankles. They inflate around your foot to create exactly the same compression as a cast but support you in such a way that you can walk on the more. For some reason the pressure allows them to heal quicker.
Other than that, eat well, steer clear of cigarettes, alcohol and painkillers and drink plenty of water.
Would be interested to see what worked for others. |

find a podiatrist who uses hot wax treatment..... can help plus lovely as well....... you sit with your foot in a hot wax bath for few mins depending on injury then take it out and it cools then you peel the wax back off.. |

How does that affect bone growth?
OP I'd say it's just gonna take as long as it takes. If you are serious about your rugby you would be foolish to rush any treatment for fear of risking future injury. |

Please....let it heal naturally. You need it for the rest of your life so waiting a few weeks or months is absolutely nothing compared to having an ankle that is never right again. I broke both my ankles in an accident when I was young (not saying what I was doing but it involved a pogo stick) and while one healed well the other has given me constant pain. Put paid to the high heels too...but I'm imagining that's not a consideration for you! Give it time....its the best way. You can't rush it. Good luck.... |

I agree with above. Do not try and rush a broken bone to heal. It can take up to two years for bone to heal fully so please take care... You dont want long term effects to knacker you up.
I had a trimalleolar fracture a few years ago. Have permanent plates and pins now...very frustrating as im very active. Enjoy the gym and running. When I got back to it after 6 months I had to be very careful as frustrating as it was. I built up strength
through physio and swimming. Before going back to the gym. And then it was two years before I could go back to my usual regime. So glad I waited because i rarely get pain in the fracture area now. Its not affected by weather either.

Please take the advice above and let it heal naturally.
I have had very bed problems with my ankle. I first broke it at the age of 8 and thought I was indestructible. I would play football with my cast on when my mum and techets couldn't see.
Since then I have broken it 6 times, and still have the fracture there. The hospital never pinned it, as they didn't want to stump my growth.
Earlier this year I went over on it whilst running. I think it has aggravated the injury, and took 6 weeks for it to get semi normal.
If I knew then what I know now I would have let the first one heal naturally. |
