A wife, a mother and a carer. Of which I am proud to say I am two. And hopefully one day I will become a mother too.

"Being a good parent.. "

Agreed, I saw a couple of votes for mums, and I agree with their importance, but really you need BOTH parents to be good.

Not when they are in constant, agonising pain, cannot walk properly, cannot carry anything, cannot dress their lower half, or any of the daily activities we take for granted.

In my experience dealing with broken families with dysfunctional children it has to be noted that nine times out of ten it's the father that's missing, which would point to the job of the father being at least as important, if not more than the mothers. It's a shame so many men arn't up to the job.

A parent isn't a job, do you invoice your children monthly?

There are many important jobs in a modern society to pick one as the most important is not easy, we can survive weeks without food but days without water, so, plumber...

the thing is, we can tend our own crops, if one were so inclined.

i agree with the premiss of the op though, you may well go through your life never needing a doctor, copper, fireman and so on.

to me, the only job i couldnt really take care of for myself, on a day to day basis, even if i needed to, were to make petrol for myself

I don't count being mum the same as a job....

Having children is certainly the most important part of my life, but I'll retire one day from my job and il never stop being a mum.

As long as your contributing to society it's important. We all help the world go round

Many people have walked away from that situation.

I may be young, and it may be tough. But there's nothing more rewarding than taking care of someone and being needed. I'm by no means a hero, but thank you.
