What things brings you back to your childhood.....

Got the idea from Provocative's 'Brothers in Arms' thread but what things brings you back to your childhood and gives you happy memories?

Whenever i smell a coal fire it brings me back to the holidays i had in Mull visiting my aunts cottage. She had a roaring fire and i used to throw things in it and watch it burn.

I'm heading up in 2 weeks time for a weekend to relax and seek out peace and quiet.

Happy memories.

.

Milky coffee, not the stuff you get in Costa Coffee and Starbucks, home made boiled milk pured onto instant coffee.

My mum used to take a flask of it to work every morning and also left some fr me. Can remember getting up and sitting in a rocking chair drinking it. Hell I miss that

the smell of plasticene. Always had loads of that in Primary school and you'd open the box and this smell would waft out. In the end when it all got mixed up you always had one big lump of brown plasticene

There is a shop in Renfrew along from the swimming baths which sells all the retro sweets which you mentioned.

The Highlands is a wonderful part of the country. The scenery is breathtaking and its a great destination for a holiday or a wee break to get away from the hussle and bussle of your daily day to day life.

Once i sober up today i may take a drive up to a place called The Rest and be Thankful and just sit in peace and quiet for a while. Only takes an hour to get there by car.

Google it and admire the view.

Actually come to think of it, the Rest may be closed due to the police presence during the week regarding the missing female??

tying old bed springs to our feet, making dens in the spinney out back, wood pidgeons, the joker at school that would blow the fuses or set of the fire alarms or (at worse) chase kids around the playground with a used jonny on the end of a stick, barr bottles here you got 2p back for returnsies (used to save them up) hapenny sweets, panda shandy (0.002 alcohol, but we thought it was more and acted like it was more), the ice cream van and the cider lolly or juicy lucy, how summer holidays felt too long but ended too quick, top trumps, plimsols, recording sundays top 40 onto cassette and trying to cut out the dj for a seemless lead in (mission impossible), wonder woman, sreet hawk, airwolf, why don't you, ra ra skirts, sniggering at frankie goes to hollywood lyrics, mullet hair cuts, the rat tail, secret crushes that usually ended up in punching each other! croggies, walking forever across fields, streams and roads looking for some adventure and not realising that that was the adventure
